In the Name of God Amen the eighth And twentieth day of November Anno Dom. 1638 and in the fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, etc. I Henry Kipps of Bersted In the county of Kent husbandman being in good And perfect health and remembrance, I praise God. Therefore I do make and ordain this my last will And testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First and principally I commend my Soul unto almighty god my Creator through the merits death and passion of his son Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer and my body To the earth to be buried at the discretion of My Executrix here after mentioned.

Item. I do give Will and bequeath to my son-in-law John MedHorst and to his seven (?) children my grandchildren To each of them five shillings piece of lawful English money to be paid unto them within three Months (time)? after my decease.

Item. I do give Will and bequeath to my grandchild Henry Kipps Son of my son Richard Kipps deceased (similar)? Sum of like money.
Item. I do give will and Bequeath unto my grandchildren Marie Kipps And Anna Kipps daughters of my said son Richard Kipps deceased to each of them three pounds a Piece of lawful English money to be paid Unto them do they shall accomplish their adult Ages of one and twenty years.

The residue of all other my goods and chattels afore here in not bequeathed I doe give will and bequeath to my daughter-in-law Mary Kipps widow Of my said son Richard deceased. And I do make name and appoint her the said Mary Kipps executrix of this my last will and testament she paying my debts legacies and funeral expenses --- I doe name and appoint her brother John Bodiaim to be (trustee)? thereof.

Item. I doe give will and bequeath unto my foresaid grandchild Anna Kipps during her natural life one annuity Or yearly rent of twenty shillings of lawful Money of England yearly -------- --- fourth Due and of all and singular my --- with in the parish of Bersted aforesaid or elsewhere within the fore said ----- of ---- payable yearly at the or in the messuage or tenements wherein I do now dwell in Bersted aforesaid – and ----- the ----- of the birth of our Saviour Christ the -------- of the ----- Virgin Marie the ------- of St John Baptist And St Michael the Archangel by even & equal ----- The first payment --- ----- ---- -----at That feast? Of the said feast? ----- shall first happen And bee m--- after the decease of my fore said daughter –in-law Mary Kipps and if with that if the said Annuity or yearly rent of twenty shillings -- --- Part ---- shall happen to bee behind and ---- After any of the said f----- in which it ought to be Paid as aforesaid during the said Term. That --- --- at all times aforesaid it shall and may bee lawful paid and for the said Anna Kipps and her Assigns or any of them unto the said messuage Buildings lands tenements and ----------- with The appurtenances to other and dis----- and the Dis----- and -------- there found from ------ To Leeds? Beared---Chastt? And ----- ----- Empound and kept until the said annuity or yearly Rent of twenty shillings with tharrouages ------ (if any bee) ---- all costs and -------- thereby ha— ---- imsta----- shall ---- the said Anna Kipps and her assigns bee fully satisfied and paid.

Item. I doe give will and bequeath all and singular my said messuage and buildings lands tenements and h------ with the appurtenances in Bersted aforesaid or elsewhere within the foresaid ------ of ---- to my fore said daughter-in-law Mary Kipps during her natural life (----- ------ the same messuage and building mill and ------- repaired and aw----as when ----- shall be) and after her decease of --- the said money to go and remain to my fore said grandchild Henry Kipps son of my said son Richard Kipps deceased And to his heirs and assigns forever.

In witness I have -------- set my hand and seal and publish And declare this to be my last will and testament In the presence of Henry Kipps his mark Roger? Clarke his mark John Clarke his mark and Henry Poulter?
