This is the last Will and Testament of me DAVID HANDCOCK late of Chartham in the County of Kent Carpenter and Builder but now of Watling St in the City of Canterbury Gentleman.

I give and devise all those my five several messuages or tenements sometime since erected or built by me on part or a parcel of land or garden ground purchased by me of Thomas Marseille of the City of Canterbury Gardener with the gardens ground land and appurtenances thereunto respectively belonging situate in an Extra Parochial place called The Precincts of the Old Castle of Canterbury in the County of Kent and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of my son in law JAMES HOULDEN and of ALLEN MILLGATE widow the Misses PEARSON and MITCHELL widow
And also all those my several eight messuages or tenements sometime since erected and built by me on a piece or parcel of land (part of a piece or parcel of Meadow or Pasture Land called the Postern Acre) purchased by me of the Divisees of Thomas DE SASAUX Esquire deceased with the gardens lands hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto respectively belonging situated in the Parish of St. Mildred in the City of Canterbury and now late in the several tenures or occupations of James BRYANT John BLOGG Edward BLOGG Thomas SIMMONDS Thomas FOX ALLEN GEORGE George PILCHER and Henry GOULD and now to the use of my daughter SARAH HOULDEN the wife of the said JAMES HOULDEN for her heirs and assigns forever.

And I give and bequeath unto the said SARAH HOULDEN the Legacy or sum of three hundred pounds sterling for her absolute use and benefit to be paid within six months after my decease.

I give and devise all those my six messuages or tenements with the gardens grounds and appurtenances to the same belonging situate at or near a certain place called Bolthill otherwise Boltshill in the Parish of Chartham in the said County of Kent and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of KEMP widow SACREE William BROOKES Edward PAY Charles RUCK and John GIBSON
And also all those my seven messuages or tenements with the gardens grounds and appurtenances thereto respectively belonging situated in Wincheap St. in the Parish of Thannington in the said County of Kent and now or late in the several tenures or occupations of SAVAGE Sarah GILES widow James NEWPORT FULLER widow James DRAY and Wiliam NOBLE or some or all of them unto and to the use of my daughter JANE YOUNG the wife of ROBERT YOUNG of the City of Canterbury Butcher for her heirs and assigns forever.

And I give unto my daughter the said JANE YOUNG the legacy or sum of three hundred pounds sterling for her absolute use and benefit to be paid within six months after my decease.

And I give and devise all those two newly erected messuages or tenements and slaughterhouse with the yard and appurtenances thereunto respectively belonging situate in the Parish of St. Margaret in the City of Canterbury and now in the several tenures or occupations of my daughter MARY WOOD widow and John Hawker CROW unto and to the use of John Fagg HARVEY of Godmersham in the County of Kent Gentleman and Richard Goodfellow STONE of Faversham in the said County Timber Merchant their heirs and assigns Upon Trust to pay the Rents Issues and Profits thereof or permit the same to be received and taken by my said daughter the said MARY WOOD and her assigns for her life.

And from and immediately after the decease of my daughter the said MARY WOOD Upon Trust for ELIZABETH JANE WOOD CHARLES JOHN WOOD WILLIAM WOOD MARY ANN WOOD ALFRED WOOD and GEORGE WOOD the six children of the said MARY WOOD to be equally divided between them share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and to their respective heirs and assigns forever.

I bequeath unto the said John Fagg Harvey and Richard Goodfellow Stone the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds sterling Upon Trust to invest the same in the Public Stocks Funds or Securities of the United Kingdom or on Real Securities in England with liberty to change the investment from time to time for any other investment of the description aforesaid and to pay the interest dividends and annual produce thereof unto my daughter the said MARY WOOD and her assigns for her life for her sole use and benefit.

And from and immediately after her decease I direct my Trustees and the survivor of them his Executors or Administrators to stand possessed and interested in the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds and the Stocks Funds and Securities in or upon which the sum shall or may be laid out or invested and the interest dividends and annual produce thereof Upon Trust for the said ELIZABETH JANE WOOD CHARLES JOHN WOOD WILLIAM WOOD MARY ANN WOOD ALFRED WOOD and GEORGE WOOD to be equally divided between them share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and to their respective Executors and Administrators and Assigns.

I give and devise all those my several messuages and tenements with the shop buildings and hereditaments and appurtenances hereunto respectively belonging situated at Wye in the County of Kent and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Daniel Steddy Goldup Whitehead and others unto and to the use of my son WILLIAM DAVID HANDCOCK his heirs and assigns forever.

I give and bequeath unto John Fagg Harvey and Richard Goodfellow Stone their Executors Administrators and Assigns all that leasehold messuage or tenement and premises thereunto belonging situate in Snavegate St. in the Town and Port of Dover in the said County of Kent which I hold of the Honorable Wardin and Assistants of the Harbour of Dover aforesaid for the residue of term of sixty one years Upon Trust for my said three grandchildren WILLIAM DAVID HANDCOCK SUSANNA HANDCOCK and MARY HANDCOCK the children of my deceased son DAVID equally to be divided between them share and share alike as tenants in common not as joint tenants and to their respective Executors Administrators and Assigns.

And in the event of either of them dying under the age of twenty one years then I bequeath the share of him or her so dying unto the survivors or survivor of them.

I give and bequeath the sum of four hundred and fifty pounds sterling unto the said JFH and RGS their Executors Administrator and Assigns Upon the Trusts following (that is to say) as to the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds part thereof for the use and benefit of my said grandson WILLIAM DAVID HANDCOCK and as to the sum of one hundred pounds other part thereof for the use and benefit of my said grandaughter SUSANNA HANDCOCK and as to the remaining sum of one hundred pounds for the use and benefit of my said grandaughter MARY HANDCOCK.

And I direct that my said Trustees shall have full power to invest the whole or any part of the said sum of four hundred and fifty pounds on such Security or Securities as they shall from time to time think proper and to pay or apply the whole or any part of each childs share thereof as well as principal; as interest for and towards the maintenance education and advancement in the World of such children or child at such times and in such manner as my said Trustees in their sole discretion shall think proper notwithstanding their or of either of their not having attained the age of twenty one years.
It being my particular wish and desire that my said Trustees shall pay and apply to the legacy or share given in trust for my said last named three grandchildren in anyway they my said Trustees may in their discretion think most desirable.
And in the event of either of them my said last named three grandchildren dying under the age of twenty one years without receiving the whole or any part of his or her legacy or share of the said sum of their one hundred and fifty pounds or benefit thereof then I direct the share or legacy of him or her so dying shall be paid and applied for the benefit of the survivors or survivor of them my said last named three grandchildren.

I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal property estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore disposed of unto and to the use of my four children the said SARAH HOULDEN JANE YOUNG MARY WOOD and WILLIAM DAVID HANDCOCK as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and to their several and respective heirs executors administrators and assigns respectively.

I appoint the said JOHN FAGG HARVEY and RICHARD GOODFELLOW STONE Executors of this my will.

I devise all Real Estates invested in me as a Trustee or Mortgagee unto the said JFH and RGS their heirs and assigns upon the Trusts and subject to the equities affecting the same respectively. Provided always and I declare my will to be that the receipt or receipts in writing of the Trustees or Trustee for the time being acting in the execution of any of the Trusts or powers hereinbefore declared or contained for any sum or sums of money payable to them or him under or by virtue of this my Will

Note: The rest of the will is just instructions for the Executors.
