In the name of God Amen I Thomas Denne of the Parish of Reculver in the County of Kent, Gentleman being of sound perfect and disposing mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say

first I give and bequeath unto my two daughters Maria and Sarah the sum of two thousand and fifty pounds apiece of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto them by my Executors hereinafter named when and as they attain their several and respective ages of twenty one years.

Also I give devise and bequeath all and every my manors messuages farms lands and hereditaments being freehold of and which land seized in possession reversion(?) ? ? with their and every of their appertuances and also all the rest residue of my goods chattels ready money securities in the funds and monies due to me mortgage ? bills notes or otherwise and all other my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind and quality the same may consist and be subject nevertheless charged and chargeable with payment of all my just debts funeral expenses the charges and expenses of proving this my will and all other incidental expenses unto my two friends George Denne of Chislet Court in the Parish of Chislet in the said County of Kent Esq and Robert Collard of the Borough of Hoath in the said County, Gentleman their heirs executors administrators and assigns upon the special trust and confidence nevertheless that they the said George Denne and Robert Collard and the survivor of them his executors and administrators shall and do ? and carry on all the farming and grazing business in which I may be engaged at the time of my decease and shall and do apply and dispose of the rents and profits of my said real estate and of the profits and proceeds of my said farming and grazing business and of my said personal estate in for and towards the maintenance education and bringing up of my said two daughters Maria and Sarah until they shall respectively attain their several and respective ages of twenty one years and ? the several legacies by me hereinbefore given(?) and bequeathed unto them and in for and towards the maintenance education and bringing up of my three sons William, George and John until such time as my said son John shall attain the age of twenty one years or in case of his death before that age then until my said son George shall attain the said age of twenty one years or in case of his death before that age then until my said son William shall attain the said age of twenty one years and in which case I ? my said son John or in case of his death my said son George or in case of his death my said son William shall attain the said age of twenty one years then upon trust that they the said George Denne and Robert Collard and the survivor of them his executors and administrators shall and do convey transfer and assign pay and apply my said real estate and my said farming and grazing business and order all the rest and residue of my said personal estate in manner following that is to say

as to for concerning all those several pieces or parcels of freehold marshland containing by estimation fifty six acres more or less with their and every of their appertuances lying and being in the Parish of Chislet aforesaid in the said County of Kent and now in my own occupation on to the use of my son William his heirs and assigns forever
and as to for concerning all those several pieces or parcels of marshland containing by estimation forty three acres more or less with their and every of their appertuances lying and being in the Parish of Chislet aforesaid now in my own occupation to the use of my said son George his heirs and assigns forever
and as to for concerning all that messuage or tenement with the yard garden and appertuances thereunto belonging situate lying and being in St Georges Place in the Parish of Saint George the Martyr in the City of Canterbury and now or late in the tenure or occupation of Edward ? and also all those several pieces or parcels of upland pasture containing by estimation twenty four acres more or less with their and every of their appertuances lying and being in the Parish of Reculver aforesaid now in my own occupation and also all that tenement or cottage with the garden and appertuances thereunto belonging situate lying and being at May Street in the Parish of Reculver aforesaid and now or late in the occupation of James ? to the use of my said son John his heirs and assigns for ever

and as to for concerning all the residue and remainder of my real estate and as to my farming and grazing business and the residue of my said personal estate to the use of my said three sons William George and John equally to be divided between them share and share alike as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and to their several and respective heirs, executors and assigns provided always and my will and mind is that they the said George Denne and Robert Collard and the survivor of them his executors and assigns shall do yearly after ? ? the maintenance education and bringing up of my said five children place out the balance or surplus of the rents and profits of my said real estate and of the profits and proceeds of my said farming and grazing business and of the residue of my said personal estate at interest in such manner as to them shall seem ? until my youngest surviving child shall attain the said age of twenty one years such balance or surplus with its accumulations being considered or taken as part of the residue of my personal estate and to go along therewith accordingly

provided also and I do hereby further declare my will and mind to be that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said George Denne and Robert Collard and the survivor of them his executors and administrators at any time or times during the continuance of their trust to apply and dispose of any sum or sums of money not exceeding the sum of five hundred pounds for each son in and for and towards the ? advancement or benefit of my said sons respectively in the world or otherwise for and or their respective benefit as to them my said Trustees or the survivor of them his executors or administrators shall stand next which sums so applied shall be allowed for by such of my sons for whose benefit they shall be advanced in the final distribution of my said real and personal estates

and I do hereby direct nominate and appoint them the said George Denne and Robert Collard the Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby commit the Guardianship of all my children until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years unto the said George Denne and Robert Collard and the survivor of them his executors and administrators and I do hereby order and direct and my will and mind is that it shall and may to lawful to and for the said George Denne and Robert Collard the Executors of this my last Will and Testament and each of them their and either of their heirs executors and administrators respectively from time to time to deduct retain and reimburse himself and themselves respectively by and out of all or any of the monies which by virtue of this my will or any of the trusts or powers herein contained shall come to them of either of their hands respectively all such charges damages and exposures which they or either of them respectively shall bear pay sustain on paid or be put into in or about or relating to the execution of this my will or the aforesaid Trusts or powers or any of them and that they or either of them their or either of their heirs executors or administrators respectively shall not be charged or chargeable the same for the other or others of them but only each of them for his own respective receipts payments debts and wilful defaults and not otherwise and shall not be charged or chargeable with or accountable for any sum or sums of money other than such as shall actually come to his or her own hands respectively by virtue of this my will their joining in any receipt or receipts for the sake of conformity no withstanding nor with any loss or damage which may happen by waste of the execution of this my will or any of the trusts or powers aforesaid with such respective wilful default of the ? herebefore ? and make void all former wills and testaments by me ? hereinbefore made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I the said Thomas Denne the Testator have to the three first sheets of this my last Will and Testament in four sheets of paper contained set my hand and to this fourth and last sheet thereof ? set my hand and affixed my seal the twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen. Whereas I Thomas Denne of the Parish of Reculver in the County of Kent, Gentleman has made my last Will and Testament bearing date this present twenty first day of July one thousand eight hundred and fourteen and I the said Thomas Denne by this my codicil annexed to my said will in addition to the several gifts devises and bequests thereof contained do give and bequeath unto my youngest son John the sum of eight hundred pounds sterling unto my brother David Denne the sum of one hundred pounds Sterling and unto George Denne and Robert Collard the Trustees and Executors named in my said will the sum of one hundred pounds apiece sterling.

I do hereby ratify and confirm all and every the gifts devises and bequests hereby my said will ? and to be accepted and taken as part thereat made or given and I do hereby declare this writing to be a codicil to my will as fully and effectively to all intents and purposes as if the same had been actually appointed therein in witness whereof I the said Thomas Denne have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen. Thomas Denne This writing was signed and sealed by the above named Thomas Denne by him published and declared as a codicil to be annexed to his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunder subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the said Thomas Denne the words unto my youngest son John the sum of eight hundred pounds sterling having been first interlined

Whereas I Thomas Denne of the Parish of Reculver in the County of Kent, Gentleman have made my last Will and Testament in the writing duly executed bearing date the twenty first day of July now last past whereby I have amongst other things therein mentioned given devised and bequeathed all and every my manors messuages farms lands and hereditaments being freehold of whom ? ? which I was seized in possession reversion remainder or ? with their and every of their appertuances to George Denne of Chislet Court in the Parish of Chislet in the said County of Kent Esq and Robert Collard of the Borough of Hoath in the said County, Gentleman their heirs and assigns to such uses upon such trusts and for such intents and purposes as are therein particularly mentioned and declared(?) of and concerning the same and whereas such the making and executing my said will I have by certain Articles of Agreement bearing date the thirtieth day of August now last past and made between Anthony May and Joseph Morris assignees of the estate and effects of Solomon Newman(?) of the Parish of Reculver aforesaid in the said County of Kent, Cordwainer a bankrupt of the other(?) part and me the said Thomas Denne of the other part contested and agreed for the purchase of a certain messuage or tenement called ? and the barn stable outhouses buildings and several pieces or parcels of land thereunto belonging with the appertuances contained by estimation seven(?) acres and three roods(?) and other ? more or less situate lying and being in the Parish of Reculver aforesaid and now in my own occupation

now therefore I do by this my codicil annexed to my said will give and devise the said messuage or tenement barn stable outhouses buildings lands hereditaments and premises so by me ? and agreed do ? leased of and from the said assigns of the said Solomon Newman(?) as aforesaid unto my youngest son John his heirs and assigns to the use of my said son John his heirs and assigns for ever

and I do hereby ratify and confirm all and every the gifts(?) devises and bequests in and by my said will and the codicil thereto annexed ? or given and I do hereby declare this writing to be a codicil to my said will and to be attested and taken as part thereof as fully and effectively ? intents and purposes as if the same has been actually inserted therein. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Denne have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen. Thomas Denne. This codicil was signed and sealed by the above named Thomas Denne and by him published and declared as a codicil to be annexed to his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunder subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the said Thomas Denne.

Whereas I Thomas Denne of the Parish of Reculver in the County of Kent Gentleman have made my last Will and Testament by the writing bearing date the twenty first day of July now last past whereby I have amongst other things therein mentioned given devised and bequeathed all and every my manors, messuages, lands and hereditaments being freehold ? ? of which I was seized in possession reversion remainder or ? with their and every of their appertuances and also all the rest and residue of my goods chattels ready money, monies in the funds and monies due to me on mortgages bonds bills notes or otherwise and all other my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever of what nature kind and quality the same might ? the subject nevertheless charged and chargeable as therein mentioned unto my two friends George Denne of Chislet Court in the Parish of Chislet in the County of Kent Esq and Robert Collard of the Borough of Hoath in the said County Gentleman their heirs executors administrators and assigns to such uses upon such trusts and for such intents and purposes as and therein particularly mentioned and declared of ? use the same and have thereby made nominated and appointed the said George Denne and Robert Collard the Executors of my said will and have thereby committed the Guardianship of all my children until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years unto the said George Denne and Robert Collard and the survivor of them his executors and survivors and whereas I am minded an desirous to add two other Trustees and Executors to the said George Denne and Robert Collard now therefore I do by this writing which I declare to be a codicil to my said will and direct to be taken as part thereof give devise and bequeath all and every my said real estate and all the said rest and residue of my said personal estate so given devised and bequeathed by my said will to the said George Denne and Robert Collard their heirs executors administrators and assigns as aforesaid unto the said George Denne and Robert Collard and John Collard of the Parish of ? in the said county, Gentlemen and my brother David Denne their heirs executors administrators and assigns nevertheless to ? uses upon the trusts and for such intents and purposes as in my said will are until(?) ? expressed and declared of and concerning all and every my said real estate and all the said rest and residue of my said personal estate so devised to my said two first named Trustees their heirs executors administrators and assigns by the said will as aforesaid and I do hereby make nominate and appoint the said John Collard and David Denne together with my said two other Executors in my said will ? Executors of my said will and also Guardians of my said children until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years

and I do hereby revoke annul and make void the legacy of eight hundred pounds in and by the first codicil to my said will bequeathed unto my youngest son John and direct the same to sink into the rest and residue of my personal estate ? ? therewith accordingly also I give and bequeath unto the said John Collard the sum of one hundred pounds Sterling and I do hereby ratify and confirm all and every the gifts devises and bequests in and by my said will and the codicils thereto annexed under or given and not hereby altered and I do hereby declare this writing to be a codicil to my said will and to be accepted and taken as part thereof as fully and effectively to all intents and purposes as if the same had been actually inserted therein. In witness whereof I the said Thomas Denne have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of November in the year of our Lord 1814. Thomas Denne This writing was signed and sealed published and declared by the above named Thomas Denne as a codicil to be annexed to and form part of his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto in his presence and in the presence of each other.
