Insolvent Debtors discharged from Gaol

July 1758 - July 1788

This is an index of 76 debtors who were discharged at the West Kent Quarter Sessions. The first group was in July 1761 and the last in August 1778. Discharges occurred in eight different years, usually in the summer.
It appears that these discharges occurred intermittently perhaps because of overcrowding in gaols. These debtors were in Maidstone Gaol.

The columns below are Surname and forename of the debtor, the year and date of the sessions, folio, notes (where parish and occupation are given), and a list of persons who brought the original suit. + indicates extra information is available.
If you arrive at this page from a search and the name is not listed as a debtor, use 'find' to search the final column.
