Will of Francis Arthur

In the name of God Amen the eighteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and nineteen I Francis Arthur of the parish of Crayford in the county of Kent Gentleman being infirm in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God and for preventing all controversy after my decease hereby do make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I give and commend my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body to be it decently buried at the discretion of my Executors

Also I give and bequeath to William Charlton ffry husband of my late dear Sister the sum of three pounds per annum payable out of the five per cent Bank of England Stock during his natural life and at his decease the principal to be equally shared between his surviving children or their heirs
Also I give and bequeath to my Nephew and Nieces children of my late Sister namely Sarah Soundy Ann ffrankcombe William Arthur ffry Mary Winter ffrances ffry ffrances Huckin and Susannah Pyne or their heirs the sum of one hundred pounds each of lawful money of Great Britain payable from out of the Bank of England Stock
Also I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Rodwell wife of John Rodwell or her heirs the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid from the aforesaid Bank of England Stock .…..my Mahogany Pillar and Maro(?) Table and Straw Mattress and it is my Will that the Promissory Note given me by Richard Jarvis shall be cancelled at my decease
Also I give and bequeath to __ ffirth Widow of ffrancis ffirth or her heirs the Sum of fifty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid out of the five per cent Bank of England Stock at the discretion of the above named William Charlton ffry
Also I give and bequeath to my Executors hereafter named in trust for the surviving children of the late ffrancis ffirth the sum of fifty pounds Stock in the five per cent English the interest of which to be paid them annually until they have arrived to the age of twenty one years and then the principal to be sold out and divided equally between them or to the survivors of them but in case of neither of them attaining that age of twenty one years then the said ffifty pounds to come to the above Elizabeth Rodwell or her heirs

Also I give to William Charlton ffry my Moiety of the Dwelling Houses with the appurts belonging thereto situate at Crayford during his natural life and at his decease to my Nephew William Arthur ffry and ffrances ffry to them and their heirs for ever
Also I give and bequeath to my two Nieces ffrances Huckin and Susannah Pyne for their care of me in my affliction my Moiety of the Cottages and land on Bexley Heath to them and their heirs for ever
Also I give and bequeath to my Nieces Sarah Soundy Elizabeth Jarvis Ann ffrankcombe Mary Winter ffrances Huckin and Susannah Pyne the sum of two hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be equally divided between them or their heirs
Also I give to my Nephew William Arthur ffry all that debt with interest thereon due to me from Mr Gillings (?) also my Silver Coffee pot and mourning ring
Also I give to my Nephew ffrancis ffry the fifty pounds he borrowed of me to go into business with and the Promissory Note for the said fifty pounds to be cancelled
Also my silver ring and plain gold ring But in case Mr Gillings debt due to me or any part thereof shall by any means not be recovered then in that case the loss shall be equally divided between my aforesaid Nephews William Arthur ffry and ffrancis ffry

Also the remainder of my money after funeral expenses debts of all kinds and other contingent expenses are paid I give and bequeath to my Great Nephews Richard Jarvis and Arthur Soundy
Also I give and bequeath my wearing apparel of all description whatever to my Niece Sarah Soundy
Also it is my Will that the above legacies are not to be paid until six months after my decease and it is also my Will that if any dispute shall arise from misinterpretation of this my Will it shall be determined and settled by the above named William Charlton ffry and I do hereby constitute and appoint the aforesaid William Charlton ffry William Arthur ffry and John Soundy to be my Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills made by me In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and nineteen

Proved at London 19th ffebruary 1820 before the Worshipful Samuel ….. Dr of Law and Surrogate by the oath of William Charlton ffry one of the Executors to whom admon was granted having been first sworn only to administer power to William Arthur ffry and John Soundy the other Executors.

[In margin r.h. side of this last page:- Proved at London the 9th March 1837 before the Worshipful…….Doctor at Law and Surrogate by the oath of William Arthur ffry one of the surviving Executors to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn duty to administrative Power referred of making the like Grant to John Soundy the other surviving Executor.
