In the Name of God Amen The Twenty Fourth Day of May in the Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God King of Great Britain in Anno Domini 1716. I William Arthur of Chatham in the County of Kent Housecarpr. being in perfect and bodily health* and not knowing how it may please God to deale with me hereafter But considering the Uncertainty of this present Transitory Life doe make and declare these presents to containe my Last will and Testament in manner and Forme Following (That is to say) First and principally I commend my Soule unto the hands of Almighty God hoping to be Saved through the Merrite Death Passion & Resurrection of Jesus Christ my only Saviour And my Body to the Earth I Committ to be decently Interred & buryed by & att the Discretion of my Executrix hereafter named
ITEM I give & bequeath unto my Brothers Robert James & Joseph Arthur One Shilling a yere & unto my Sisters Mary Stephens Katherine White and Elizabeth Wildron (?) One Shilling a yere
ITEM all and Singular Such Wages Sume and Sumes of money Lands Tenements Goods Chattles & Estate
whatsoever wherewith at the time of my decease I shall be possess’d or invested or which shall then belong
or of right Appertaine unto me I doe give Devise & bequeath unto my Dear and Loving Wife Susannah
Arthur her heires Executors Admrs. And Assignees for ever And I doe hereby make & ordaine her my said
Wife Sole Executrix of this my last Will And doe revoke all Former Wills & Deeds of Gift by me at any
time heretofore made And doe Ordaine these presents to Stand and be for and as my Last Will & Testament
for ever Witness my hand & seale the day & year first above writen

Looks as though both William and the Clerk who copied it for Probate missed out “mind” or some such
otherwise it doesn’t make sense!
