My great grandmother, Mary Hudson James, told us (when we were kids
in the 1930s) about the beginning of the cemetery: A wagon going
west had forded the Neosho at the Hudson Ford, and stopped at the Hudson
farmhouse seeking help for one of their number who was seriously ill with
a fever. The sick person died that night, and was buried on the hill
west of the house. After that, when a person in the area died the
body was buried near the first one. Below are his corrections, clarifications,
and comments.
