Yorkshire, and died 9 October 19121 Cobden, Greymouth West Coast South Island New Zealalnd. He married Sarah
Elliott 16 August 1852 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, daughter of William Elliott and Ane Parkin. She was born 26 February 1834 in
Green Head ,Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, and died 18 October 1913 in Cobden.
Note for Thomas ROSE
Thomas was baptised 20 January 1833 in Tankersley, a neighbouring parish of Ecclesfield. Thomas and Sarah had two children
in England who died in infancy. About 1856 the couple went to Australia. A son was born on board ship and he was named George Naverino. There was a ship called the Navarino which made a least one trip to Australia and I believe it may be that ship they travelled on. They had five children in Buningyong, Victoria Australia. On the 6 September 1866 the family left Australia on board
the Alhambra. the ship departed from Melbourne and arrived in Hokitika West Coast South Island N.Z.. They were 'Fore' passengers and Thomas is listed as a miner. the actual shipping list is on microfilm number 0284498. they settled in Cobden Greymouth where Thomas worked as an engineer. In the Mining reports 1900 Thomas was granted a prospecting licences for dredging purposes 1899-1900 up the Grey River.
