William died on Nov. 29, 1895. Elizabeth died on Aug. 18, 1896. When theycame to America, they had one daughter, Elizabeth M.,The rest of their children were born in Missouri, probably St. Louis as I have evidence that they lived at 3059 Sheridan Ave. They also owned property on Mound Ave.I have no idea where in England they came from or Elizabeths maiden name. They lived in Atchison and Holt counties until 1900 and then moved to Oklahoma until sometime between 1910 and 1920 when I found them back in Missouri. She died in 1938.

When Aaron joined the Civil War Vol he lived in Buck Prarie or Lawrenceburg. Where is that? Elizabeth Wilhite died between 1873 and 1876. When did she die and where is she buried? Aaron married Kessiah Weisner my ggrandmother and moved with some of the children to Arkansas before 1880. Did George Marion Davis and Sarah Davis stay in MO.? Thomas Sherman Davis and Georgeana moved to Tennessee where their grandfather George Davis lived. Kessiah Davis (Weisner) is buried in Lamar Arkansas. Where is Aaron? I found him in the list for McKenzie's regiment from Nashville. He is later found in Illinois, using the first name "John." DEATHROW	I am descendant of Eli S. DETHROW, born 1826 and Phebe ELLIOTT who settled in Oregon County, MO in 1868, from Ohio and Mississippi. Eli's mother drowned, and the father remarried. When the father died, stepmother sent him and 2 brothers away (this all happened in MS, NC or TN). Eli was sent to be raised by an old doctor who was possibly an uncle. Eli and Phebe's children: Hopia, Georgeanna, Eli David, Wiley S., Emma, Ray and Elmer. I have recently written a book on the DETHROWs, and also have info on many DETHEROWs/DETHROW/DETTEROs (60 different spellings) who are possible ancestors of my Eli S.

Alfred was a stone contractor and built Memorial Park Cemetery at Hwy. 70 & Lucas & Hunt Road in Normandy. Also built Normandy Methodist (?) Church at Normandy Drive and Natural Bridge Road across from UMSL. It is family rumor that Alfred invented the first concrete block form for building and that there is a St. Louis street named after him.

DIGBY, Myrtle	She had a sister named Jessie or Jesse who married Tom Elton. They lived in Lebanon. He had a first cousin named Madeline who was married to James Loney. They also lived in Lebanon. I don't know if Myrtle was married when she gave birth to my father. He did not know his father, but she told him his father was a policeman named John Bell. My father's name was Jack Anderson Bell and he was born on 4/17/1916, possibly in St. Louis, Lebanon, or Kansas City. We've always felt that there was some "mystery" involved, since we have a newspaper article with his picture and the caption below the picture says that he is the son of John Anderson! My father died in 1982 and my mother is 87, so her memory is not great. She said she thinks Myrtle died around 1950. At some point Myrtle married Victor Rutz, who was a boarder at her boarding house. He was a chef. He died in the mid 1960's. If you can give me any suggestions as to where to look, I would appreciate it. I have checked the U.S. Census Records and SS Death Records with no luck.

Second child, Michael, born in 1849, in New York. Raised seven children in Vernon County, Wisconsin from 1853 - 1874 (Sarah, Michael, Peter, Mary Ann, William, Patrick, Jr., and Thomas J.). Patrick was living with his two youngest sons (Patrick, Jr., and Thomas J.), in Knox County, Missouri, in 1880. Sons married sisters in the Lorey family and remained in Missouri until their deaths. I cannot find where Patrick died or is buried. He was 58 in the 1880 census. All of the Missouri family were buried at St. Joseph's in Edina, MO. Patrick is not listed as being buried in this cemetery. Anyone researching this family or other Dolans in Missouri, please contact me.

Tryon Cemetery, Tryon, Lincoln Co., OK. Dallas Darrell DOWNS was born 9 Feb 1876 in New Lebanon, Cooper Co., MO, the second son of William Henry DOWNS and Frances Eva STEELE. Dallas left this life on 29 Aug 1938 in Tryon, Lincoln Co., OK and is buried in the Tryon Cemetery. About 1896, Dallas married Philena WATERS who was born 31 May 1878 in Jackson Co., KS. Philena was the daughter of Charles and Martha WATERS. She departed this life on 31 Oct 1958 and is buried next to Dallas in the Tryon Cemetery at Tryon. Dallas and Philena homesteaded land in Woodward Co., OK in 1896. He purchased a combine by using his farm as collateral. For whatever reason, his venture failed and he lost both the farm and the combine. They moved to Tryon about 1904 and then, about 1906 or 1907, they moved to the Big Pasture area that was to become Grandfield, Tillman Co., OK. Eschiti was one of the five townsites that had a federally approved charter in the Big Pasture. The other four were Randlett, Apheatone, Quanah, & Isadore. Only those townsites with a federal charter were given post offices. An "unchartered town" in the Big Pasture had been named Kell City after Frank KELL, one of the owners of the Wichita Falls & Northwestern Railroad. The town had been built literally on the railroad's right of way. The Interior Department refused to give Kell City a post office because it was in competition with Eschiti. Eschiti had a post office but no railroad. In 1908, Baptist Minister A. J. TANT, decided to divided his farm into a new townsite of city lots and sell them off. Rev. TANT offered to give a lot to anyone who would move a business or residence to his townsite. He did this in order to try to settle the feud that was brewing between the towns of Kell City and Eschiti. Rev. TANT's new townsite was called Kell. Since almost all of the residents of both towns had moved to Kell, the town's city fathers decided that the new town would need a post office. They asked the U.S. Government for a post office but were refused because Kell also was not approved as a townsite by the federal government. Since Eschiti was an approved townsite, it was decided that the easiest way to get a post office was to take the existing one from Eschiti. Some men from Grandfield simply went to the Eschiti community late one evening and moved the small frame building to the new city. They worked so quickly and silently that the postal clerk sleeping inside the building did not realize that it had been moved the two miles until he woke up the next morning. The post office remained in town for only one day because U.S. Deputy Marshalls arrived in town and began asking questions about the parties who had tampered with a federally owned building. Those involved with the move worked swiftly and the post office was moved back to Eschiti that night! The new town was still without a post office! The incident about the Eschiti post office is related on page 22 of the book titled, "Grandfield, The Hub of The Big Pasture", written by Robert Lee Wyatt, 3rd. Although no names were mentioned in the book, Dallas Darrell DOWNS was one of those involved in the post office "move". In late 1908, the new town again approached the U.S. government about a post office. This time they had the help of the Third Assistant Postmaster General of the United States, C. P. GRANDFIELD. Their efforts prevailed and the town was renamed Grandfield in honor of the Postmaster General for his assistance. All of the government chartered towns withered and died while Grandfield flourished. Of course, it didn't hurt that the WF & NW railroad built a depot in Grandfield. Dallas was a carpenter and building contractor in Grandfield and helped build the first school house in Grandfield as well as several private homes in that area between 1908 and 1930. He built his own home on the northwest corner of the street 4 or 5 blocks due north of the water tower. A man by the name of Grady FUQUA bought it years later. Dallas' son, Fred, had a photo taken of himself on top of the water tower about 1917-18. Dallas built the ROSENBOOM house two blocks north of Jim and Ruth GIBBON's home. It is on the northwest corner of the street also. He also built the house straight across the street from the ROSENBOOM home. He taught two of his sons, Howard and Fred, carpentry. Howard went on to become a master carpenter and cabinet maker while Fred went into the oilfields as a driller and toolpusher. Dallas' carpenter's tools including a wooden mallet, his framing square, and several different types of hand planes were found in Fred's garage on March 10, 1997, as well as a four volume set of books on carpentry. The copyright date was 1923. A receipt made out to D. D. DOWNS was found inside one of the books. A two man cross-cut saw that belonged to Dallas was found in the garage a few weeks earlier.

DRODDY	My ggggrandfather, William Droddy, died in St. Charles County, 1824. The probate papers from his estate are available. He supposedly was also a justice of the peace. His last known wife was Ruth nee Ellison. At least one of his children, and possibly more, continued to live in Missouri following his death. His other sons went to Texas. Prior to Missouri, William followed the westward flow of civilization down the Ohio, beginning in (now) West Virginia where the Kanawha and the Ohio meet. William and Ruth drifted westward, living in Ohio, Illinois and finally Missouri. When his estate settled, there was a bill for two coffins, his and his wife's. Was it Ruth? Also, the estate papers mentions a minor daughter, Malinda. It is the only reference we have of her.

In 1860 Sarah Cecilia Duffin their neice, daughter of brother Francis went to join them as their servant aged 8. her brother joined them about 1864 and Francis left Ireland with his family and moved to Scotland. About 1873 he left his wife and 5 children in Scotland and joined his family in Maries, Missouri. About 1879 his wife Rosa and their youngest child Francis joined them.Francis and Rosa both died about 1881. Durham II are buried but they died between 1849 and 1850. Lucy must have remarried but who??? Robert married in 1850 and could have helped raise the child for his mother. Solon was a Confederate Calvaryman at age 16. After marriage in 1868, he migrated to Eastland Co TX where he became a doctor in 1907. Charles Daugherty Durham died in Ada OK 1896. I believe Richard and Joseph Durham both died at the hands of the Civil War.
