| CAVANAGH | Unknown WASHBURN and wife, gave birth to my grandfather
Robert Edward
Lee WASHBURN, Dec. 15, 1865, Carthage, MO. There were other children I
think.
Next known location of family is in St. Louis, MO, where above Robert E. WASHBURN married a Mary Elizabeth (STILLMAN I think), born June 18, 1878, died 1863. Robert died about 1908. I have been unsuccessful in finding any info on Mary's origins and do not know her maiden name. The couple lived at 5030 Claxton, St. Louis and after Robert's death, Mary continued to live there until her 1963 death. (I found her on 1920 and 1930 census rolls, in 1920 working as a department store clerk, and 1930 working as a box maker) Robert was a musician, music teacher and a composer who published his own music.) I have many of the lead plates and some of his music, composed mostly in the period 1900-1908. Whole family musical, had a family band. Mary sang. The couple are buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lucas-Hunt Road, St. Louis. Children of the couple are: John WASHBURN, born St. Louis, MO, about 1901-1903, died 1955, buried in Memorial Park Cem., Lucas-Hunt Rd., St. Louis, MO. Was living at home on the 1920 census. I think he later taught piano and married a woman named Ruth, also buried in same cemetery with the family. Mary WASHBURN, born St. Louis, MO, about 1901-1903, died about 1928, buried in same above cemetery in St. Louis. Mary was on the 1920 census, working as a department store clerk. She died of cancer at about age 26. The son, Robert (born 1897) lived in ARK, Louisville, KY, and from 1949, lived in Texas near the Dallas area in Lisbon (near Waxahachie) and in Garland. He and Audrey moved to Mt. Ida, ARK to retire in about 1964, where he died in Jan. 1967. Robert, who was a pianist and musician when young, worked all his life in the area of bookeeping and accounting. Among some of the possessions retrieved after Mary WASHBURN's
1963 death,
is a book with the name, Mary E. CAVANAGH with a note that she rec'd
the
book from her grandfather--and inside was a news clipping from a
Newport,
ARK paper announcing my mother's birth--Frances C. WASHBURN (WILLIAMS)
and stating that there were 5 generations in the baby's family--that
she
had a great-grandmother living in St. Louis. A GENEALOGY.COM query posted by a J.FRANKE, a relative thru marriage I think, in 1998 had information on Robert and Mary WASHBURN and family burial in St. Louis, and asked for info about his music and compositions, but I discovered the posting late and have been unable to contact J. FRANKE. |

lived ther as well, along with his sister Ruth Ann (Clanton) Clark, and
some of his brothers. His father was Edward M. Clanton and he may have
dies before they left Buchanan Co., or he may have died before the
family arrived in Buchanan Co., Missouri. Can anyone give me any
information about the Clanton and Clark family around that year
(1846) and before that year |

| CLARK | Dr. H.T. (Hezekiah Texas) Clark, born 10 June 1848 (as stated
in most
of Dr. Clark's papers). Only once was the 10 June 1847 used, in a
renewal
of his Med. license, in 1918, when he was 70 years of age. In Dr. H.T. Clark's death c., made out by one of his daughters, who he lived with until his death in 1932, it stated that Dr. Clark's father was William (unk) Clark, born in MO. (abt 1800, my estimate) and married abt (1820, my estimate) an (Unk Williams), died 2 Jan 1932. From my side, I too have heard that there were 19 children in the William Clark family and H.T. Clark was the youngest, his siblings are the same as listed. (as stated by one of his gggrandaughters, who's mother Dr. Clark and Ellen Clark lived with until their death. This same surety is stated by Donna Gabriel (a Clark ancestor I have not contacted yet, but tried) in one of her Familytree forums, and the first I have heard these items from another for years. There are several common coincidental fact between the Isams/Isoms, Texans from Tennessee, and Isoms Clarks of Texas. And some of the comparison like siblings of these families does not, but by a quirk or quill of the pen could be in agreement, even in agreement with the William/Hezekiah Clarks. |

| CLEVELAND | I am trying to find my grandmothers family in Missouri. I know so little of them not even what county they were in. I think it was probably close to both the Arkansas and Oklahoma line because of the few facts that I know of them. My mothers was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Frank Holcomb and Hester Ann Cleveland. Hester Ann's fathers name , I believe, was Williiam. My mother has died now but she really gave me as much information as she knew. Missouri was the only place she ever knew of that her mothers family lived in. I believe Hester's father died when she was young because she had half brothers and sisters with other names. My mothers dad who was at least part Cherokee Indian died before my mother was two years old. My mother and grandmother were in Fort Smith and/or Van Buren for a while. I have a picture of her first grade class in Van Buren and also in the picture was the comedien Bob Burns. She said her mother worked at least for a while in a Hotel in Fort Smith. She seemed to have fond memories of that time although what she remembered didn't help me in my search. My mother was born in Salisaw, Oklahoma in January of 1896 and was in Arkansas when she was six. Her family which included a stepfather, William Mallet, was in Morrilton, Conway County, Arkansas Census when she was 14. Sorry this is so long but I am so anxious to find something. Other names she mentioned were Potts, Bias and Bivens. She couldn't remember how they were related. Thanks for any clue you can give me on how to search or anything. |

| CRAWFORD, Samuel | born abt 1813 in TN. Married abt 1833 in TN to Fanellie
(Phinella)
Dogget of TN. Died before 1880 in Missouri. Abt 1846, Samuel & Fanellie loaded on a boat at Knoxville TN, their kids, a few pieces of furniture, their Negro slaves, and a chest full of money. (nobody knows what happened to the money). They landed in Missouri and homesteaded a large tract of land 3.5 miles east of California MO. There they cut timber, sawed logs, and built their home; but when the Civil War broke out, the home and all records were destroyed by fire. In the years to follow, they built other homes, all in the same community. The last one to be built is now (1980) the home of Mr & Mrs Harve Martin, she being the daughter of their eldest son Dan. Sam was a captain in the militia and was often called out to settle down the indians. They were heavy slave owners; therefore, the freeing of slaves caused a heavy loss to them. However, they being Scotch-Irish descent, took it better than the other slave owners. They surely were kind and loving master & mistress, because when the slaves found they could go, some refused to leave. One old Negro woman stayed with Fanellie and helped to rear the children. They had 7 children: William Daniel b.1834; Edwin H (my gg-grandfather) b.10 Aug 1835; A Jack b.12 Mar 1835; James M b.1842; Martha b.1844; Samuel b.abt 1846; Susan b.1851. Sam died of typhoid fever, before 1880 when Fanellie appears on census living with oldest son William Daniel Crawford and his family. In order to raise the children, Fanellie had to sell of the greater part of her land. Possible father of this Samuel is another Samuel, on 1820 census, TN, Lincoln Co, page 21, listed with 2 males under age 10. |

| CREEK, David | wife, Peggy McClure. They were living in Jackson County, MO in 1830 and their daughter, Philadelphia Creek, was married at their home in Jackson County, MO in June of 1833 according to their original family bible record. They were living in Cass Co., MO in 1840 and it has been said that David Creek was one of the first settlers of Cass Co.,MO. I have been unable to locate David in the 1850 Census and he married Elizabeth Rowland in 1842 in Cass Co. so I assume that his first wife Peggy McClure died prior to that time. He was born in Kentucky, a son of Killian and Margaret Holloway Creek. He had several children in the 1840 Census, some of which I do not have names for. His daughter Eliza married Hysum or Hyrum Shears or Shearer. His daughter Marthy married George Cope or Pope. His son, Milton G. Creek, married (l) Malinda Riddle and later moved to Kansas. Milton had several wives. His daughter Philadelphia married Peter Welch and they eventually moved to Wilson Co., KS. David eventually moved to Leavenworth Co., Kansas where he was found in the 1855 Census. He is not found with his wife in the 1860 Census. |
