HELP!! Your help is VERY much needed!! Below you will find instructions as to how you can submit a Morris ancestral photo.

"Have you got plenty of those in that box of pictures that was handed down by my great-grandmother, to my grandmother, then my mother, and finally to me!" you say?  :-)  Some identify the time, place or person (people) on the back, and some don't?  Some you recognize, and some you don't?  What do you do with them?  Well, you could let them sit in the box, and one day hand them down to your children.  Hope that your children will treasure them as you did.  Of course by then they sure won't know who, or what they are of.  Or....you could place them on these pages!  If you want, get copies of them, send the copies.  That is one sure way of preserving the photos so your great-great-great grandchildren will benefit from them. This is just the place for them. Here we will display those wonderful photo's you have. This site is made with hopes of having photo's for all states & countries eventually. We are looking for any photos of first businesses, early settlers, first doctors, old homesteads or any photos for early ancestral Morris Pioneers, emigrators or ancestors. We want to show them our gratitude and what better way to show our love and respect for them!

If you have some photos you would like to donate, and have a scanner...so much the better.  I am taking care of the Photo's.  I will put them in a 'thumb-nail', then I will put the full picture on a page.  This will make it much easier for all to see what photo's there are. Then you have a choice of three sizes to view if you wish.   Note: If your photo is of poor quality (faded, torn or smudged) we may not be able to use it.  Whatever you photo looks like, is what it will look like on the Internet.

Before scanning them, e-mail me, Addie , since I will be handling the Photo collection and putting them into thumb-nails. I may have suggestions, to help you to get a good copy.  I have a few tricks up my sleeve, and knows how to do all this stuff with the scanners!  Or, to make arrangements to send me copies, or such.

Instructions and helpful hints for submitting photo's

**You MUST include your email address or one method which people can use as a way to contact you, in order for photo's to be posted! Or they *WILL* not be used. This is the contact method used.**
I have been getting a few messages on photo's and thought I would list some things for you.

I am able to open most all formats. The most popular used are the Gif. and Jpeg.

DO NOT send extremely large files ie: files that take 15 minutes or better to download.

Gif. usually will compress and decompress themselves in that they have a built in LZW or compression tool.

Jpeg / Jpg files are used usually with larger photo's having more colors. It too, also has a LZW or compression tool.

The thing to remember is the resolution, which is measured in dots per inch. The higher the resolution the better the photo or scanned image is. I can except either file format.

Things to do: For those with scanners read 1-4 for those with out scanners #5 applies.

Send only "one" photo, your first & last name and a photo description per email!

1. Decide which format you prefer.

2. Send me the actual image you scanned. I will make the thumbnail and resize the picture accordingly (if needed).  Remember try and not send a large file. Just because your photo is an 8x10 does not mean you have to save it as that size.

3. Make sure if the picture has a name, locality etc., that you make mention of that so I have the proper photo identification. eg: name, date, buisness name and location if known.

4. Email me the photo file attachment.

5. For those without scanners, you can send me a copy of a picture. Even a color copy from a copy machine will work well if their cartridge is good. <G> If you will contact me, I will send you my snail mail address and you can send it to me. Please make a note somewhere if you would like to have the photo / copy back, and I will send it right back. You will need to make sure you supply postage for the return of the photos and if you would like them placed on a floppy after they are scanned, then you will need to include a floppy. Be sure to include your e-mail address with the picture so I may e-mail you when I get the pictures.  (IF there is No e-mail address, this WILL keep the picture from being placed on the pages).  If at any time your email changes, you MUST notify me. If I am contacted by a viewer and your email address is no longer valid, the photo will be removed!
I receive photos on a daily basis for another photo project. Please, try not to send an original if at all possible, always make a copy. They are NOT that expensive to have made. And last but not least, if you have any further questions, please do let me Addie know.

Thanks much,
Addie
