In 1830 John and Andrew purchase 50 acres of land on Fudges Creek, Cabell County (Cabell County Deed Book 4, page 600). As John lived out his life in Cabell County, he bought and sold other real estate, including 130 acres on the left fork of Fudges Creek he held until 1844 when he sold it to Jacob Sexton (Cabell County Deed Book 8, page 552). There is a gravestone in Maupin Cemetery in Ona, Cabell County with the name "Louisa Ann, wife of John Sexton" and with footstone that has "LAS" engraved. Her marker is broken and the birth date is hidden because it is buried in concrete. Her grave is near those of two sons, Henry and Horatio.
