Along with the PPT entries, Jacob entered into land transactions.  In 1844 Jacob Saxton purchased 180 acres on Fudges Creek, Cabell County (Cabell County Deed Book 8, page 552) from John and Louisa A. Sexton.  In 1847 Jacob was issued a grant for 300 acres of land on Fudges Creek by the Virginia Land Office (Land Office Grants No. 98, 1846-1847, page 666).

In the 1850 census, Jacob and Acantha appear with their new little daughter and with Jacob's brother James.  1850 Cabell County census, page 001:

In 1852 Jacob H. and Acantha Sexton sell 3 tracts on Fudges Creek, totaling in excess of 132 acres, to Charles Meyer (Cabell County Deed Book 10, page 487).  They were preparing at this point to move to Indiana.  Jacob and family are in the 1860 Princeton Township, White County, Indiana census, page 502, as follows:

This is the William and Catherine Jordan family despite a sloppy census taker recording wrong birthplaces, calling William's wife Nancy instead of Catherine, and failing to report the 12 year old girl's last name as Porter.  Nancy Porter was William and Catherine's granddaughter who lived with them.

Lewis was born in Indiana not long after Jacob and Acantha sold the 132+ acres in Cabell County.  This was also the time frame when James Washington Sexton, son of Andrew H. and Mary Reynolds Sexton was born in Indiana - Lewis being born 22 September 1852 and James being born 12 March 1854.  Could it be that Andrew and Jacob and families traveled together to White County, Indiana before Andrew moved on to Illinois?  Why White County, Indiana?  Could it be that Catherine Sexton Jordan corresponded with family back home and enticed her siblings to join her in White County?

The 1870 White County, Indiana census continues to show the William Jordan and the Jacob Sexton family in fairly close proximity.
