Notes for NANNIE LOU MORGAN:

Nona Lou was bitten by a cooper head while walking to the lower field to check the corn.  Her husband, Earnest, used his shoe lace as a tourniquet to help slow the poison flow. Uncle Bill went for the doctor.  When they got Nona Lou to the house, Earnest grabbed a live chicken, ripped it open and laid it on the bite.  The doctor said that probably saved her life. Nona Lou’s leg swelled up a lot.  She would place her leg on a chair and drag it around while she did her house work. Talk about strong women.  I wish I could have known her. (Linda)   This happened in 1930 some place in Arkansas.

Notes for ADA MORGAN:

As the story was told to me by Melinda Sposito:

Ada was in the WAC's. Ada and Jack eventually divorced--apparently he left her, and they were going to take the kids away because she was sick. She had called or written Rachel, my grandmother, to ask if my cousin--who was childless--would take them, but they didn't. Anyway, that was in the late 50's, and it was before that they came and stayed with Frances Morgan for awhile in Texas. I don't know if Henry was alive then or not. My mom hasn't seen Ada since before she married, she said, which was prior to 1946. She thinks that Ada was living in California when she was sick and having the trouble with losing the kids.
