Two years after Willie and Emma purchased their farm from his brother, AJ Schold, Wilhelmina (Nettie) Schold. Nettie ws probably named after Emma's beloved aunt Netta Rosvall in Kansas. The origin of her twin brothers' name (Lawrence) is not known. The twins grew up on the farm. Nettie's pictures show a quiet, shy girl. She had a strict Swedish Lutheran upbringing but rebelled against her heritage by marrying an Anglo/Frenchman, Tom Lewis who lived a few miles away in Crosby.

Nettie had one further son, Roland in 1935. She contracted tuberculosis and died in 1938. She was much loved and much missed by all who knew her. Of the people in this photo, only Lawrence W, Audrey and Gene are still alive. They have children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. None of the current generation speaks Swedish or keeps the Swedish traditions. Few would even think of themselves as other than American.
