Willer,is an important location in our family history as it had the nearest Church to Bitschwiller and thus was the site of Christenings and Weddings for the village. Until the 1840's, Bitschwiller had only a chapel.

Willer is also where the TSCHAEN family was located prior to the Thirty Years War. Nicholas l'ancien TSCHAEN (b 1610), and Burcard TSCHAEN (b 1643) are said to be from Willer. After the Thirty Years War this family moved to Bitschwiller. They married into the HALLER/OLANIE family.

m. STOLZ, Marie (d. abt 1661) Willer
-TSCHAEN, Burcard (b.abt 1643 - 1699) Willer

--TSCHAEN, Agathe (abt 1674-1740) Bitschwiller
  m. HALLER, Jean Adam (abt 1670 - 1736) Bitschwiller

Burcard HORNLER (b. abt 1590) was also from Willer. His daughter, Marie HORNLER (b abt 1640) toward the end of the Thirty Years War. married Adam HALLER of Bitschwiller.

Thiebaut WEYNACHT was probably born in Willer abound 1575. His son, Germain WEYNACHT was certainly born there around 1600. Germain married Barbara ZIMMERMANN (b. abt 1600 - parents born in Bitschwiller around 1570). The family continued to live in Willer until Abraham WEINACHT (1697-1734) was born in Bitschwiller. They married into the BELTZUNG/MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Thann. Jean Jacques LACHNER was born in thann around 1640. He and his wife, Anne Marie WERLIN married and settled in Bitschwiller before 1668. Their son, Jean Jacques LACHNER married Marthe CONRAD (b. abt 1678) Her grandfather, Francois CONRAD (abt 1640 - 1709) was a tuilier (roof tiler) and had been married to Elisabeth NAGEL. They appear to have lived in Bitschwiller.

Roderen. The STOERCKLIN family lived in Roderen briefly around1683. Nicholas STOERCKLIN (1650 - 1706) emigrated to Roderen from Bibersweil in Switzerland. He had a son, Jean Pierre STOERKLEN in 1683 while living in Roderen and married Barbard GRUNENWALD of Mitzach in 1686. The family moved to Bitschwiller
