Urbes. Urbes marks the farthest point up into the Vosges mountains where our relations can be traced. Jean MUNSCH (abt 1580 - 1649) was Prevot Vallee St Amarin. His grandaughter, Anne Marie MUNSCH married into the RUDLER family (whose father had also been Prevot Vallee St Amarin). Their daughter married Balthazaar SCHERRER of Bitschwiller in 1695.

Fellering is located at the intersection of two roads across the Vosges - one which leads to Bussang and Remiremont the other leads to Ventron and then to La Bresse. Martin SEYFFERLIN was born in Fellering in 1618 but settled in in the nearby village of Urbes after he married Agathe-Anne MUNSCH of Urbes.

A MUNSCH line came from Fellering. Roman MUNSCHI was born there around 1530 and married Madelaine SCHURMENE. Their daughter, Anne MUNSCH (b. abt 1560) married Claus Burcard STOLTZLIN of Vogelbach. They are linked to the TSCHAEN/SCHERER/ERHARD/STOERCKLIN/HALLER family line.

Another MUNSCH line can be traced to Gaspard MUNSCH, a miller, (b. abt 1640) who married Eva NEGLERIN in 1666 in Guebwiller. Their son, Jean Thiebaut MUNSCH (b. 1668) followed in his fathers footsteps as a miller marrying Barbara SCHMID (b.1668 in Fellering) in 1690 in Oderen. The family continued to live in Fellering until 1743 when Antoine MUNSCH (1743-1815) was born in Bitschwiller. Their daughter Catherine MUNSCH married Pierre GSTALTER.

A third MUNSCH line traces to Jean MUNSCH (abt 1600-1686), a boulanger (baker), who married Anne FRECHIN. Their daughter, Cladina MUNSCH married Barthelemy HALLER (abt 1650-1688) who was born in Fellering but whose family had come from Ranspach. From there the family line is: ARNOLD/MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG.

Kruth. Bartelemy SEYFFERLIN (abt 1590 - 1658) from Kruth became the Maire de la Haute Vallee (Mayor of the High Valley). He married Bleesat Waldner (abt 1600-1643) from Ventron-Vosges which is a village over the other side of the Vosges from Kruth. Bleesat's father, Dominique VALDENAIRE (abt 1570 - 1640) had been a Bailiff.

The daughter of Bartelemy SEYFFERLIN, Ursula (abt 1640 - 1690) Married Gaspard WAGRICH (abt 1630 - 1694) also of Kruth. Their grandaughter Anne Marie WAGRICH (1700 - 1732) was born in Oderen and married Abraham WEINACHT of Bitschwiller. They are linked to the BELTZUNG/MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Claude ARNOLD (b. 1623) from Gerbeviller, Meurthe et Moselle moved to Munster and married Marie SIFFERLIN of Kruth in 1639. Gerbeviller is across the Vosges up near Nancy. We have no information why Claude ARNOLD would travel such a long way from his birthplace but it may have been due to the disturbances of the Thirty Years War. Claude's son, Jean Jacques ARNOLD (1640-1719) was born in Munster. Sometime thereafter the family moved to Kruth. Jean Jacques was married to Gertrude MUNSCH and became the mayor of Kruth. His son, Burgard ARNOLD (b. 1673) married into the HALLER line from Fellering. Their daughter, Agathe married into the MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Gaspard WAGRICH (b. abt 1630 - 1694) from Kruth married Ursula SEYFFERLERIN (abt 1640 - 1690) also of Kruth.

Ranspach was the home of a branch of the HALLER family in 1600. Pierre HALLER (abt 1600-1655) and his wife Barbara FROST (abt 1600- 1644) had a son, Dietrich HALLER who became a mayor of Ranspach. His descendents moved to Fellering and married into the ARNOLD/MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Husseren. Today Husseren has a textile museum indicating that textiles have been important to this village for many years. The Rebischung's may have been involved in this industry -- as we know that Therese REBISCHUNG (1842 - 1877) was a tisseure (weaver) before her marriage. The REBISCHUNG family is said to come from Husseren and dates back to before the Thirty Years War. Georgius REBISCHUNG died in Bitschwiller.

Husseren is also the home of Christen PETER (1590-1665), who married Anne REBUSCHUNG (born about 1590). Their daughter Elisabeth PETER (born abt 1640) married Abraham OELINGER (born 1640 in Husseren but his family was in Mollau). Their daughter Barbara OLINGER married into the STOERCKLIN/HALLER family of Bitschwiller.

Mollau, is a village up a small valley just west of St Amarin. Antoine OHLINGER was born around 1570 in Mollau. He married Anne WISSLING in 1594. Their son Antoine OLLINGER (1620-1675) and his wife Madaleine MUNSCH also lived in Mollau. One son, Abraham (b. abt 1640 in Husseren) married Elisabeth PETER (b. abt 1640 in Husseren). Their daughter Barbara OLINGER married into the STOERCKLIN/HALLER family of Bitschwiller.

Another son of Antoine OLLINGER and Madeleine, MUNSCH was Simon OEHLINGER (b. abt 1651 - 1729). Simon married Madelaine ILTISS (abt 1643-1723) of Mollau. They settled in Mollau. Their son, Laurent EHLINGER (1680-1738) married Anne Marie la jeune HEINRICH (1689-1763) also of Mollau and subsequent generations married into the MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Thenig (Antoine) BURGUNDER was born around 1580 in Mollau. He married Margaretha WISSLING also of Mollau. Their daughter, Marie (abt 1620 - 1698) married Mathieu HEINRICH and lived in Storkensohn. They link to the GRUNENWALD.WEINACHT/BELTZUNG/MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Mitzach is next to Mollau and Jean GRUNENWALD was born there around 1615. He married Anne SYFFERLIN of Urbes. Their daughter Barbara married Nicolas STOERCKLIN of Bibersweil, Switzerland in Roderen in 1686. The family settled in Bitschwiller and married into both the HALLER and REBISCHUNG families.

The WEBER and MURA families (who married into the REBUSCHON family) were also from Mitzach. Jean WEBER was born around 1630. He married Veronique MURA who was also from Mitzach. Veronique's father, Nicolas MURA (abt 1600 - 1673) was from Mitzach.

The REBUSCHON family (see Husseren) lived in Mitzach between 1620 and the early 1700's. Mathieu REBUSCHON (abt 1620 - 1701) married Anne MUNSCH (abt 1620-1685). His son Blaise REBUSCHON (abt 1658 - 1699) married Maria WEBER of Mitzach. Her Grandfather, Nicolas MURA (abt 1600 - 1673) was also of Mitzach.

Malmerspach. Another ancestor of the REBISCHUNG family, Blaise DURRENBUR of Malmerspach (abt 1590-1664) was a vitrier window glazier. He married Catherine LIENHARDT also of Malmerspach. Their daughter, Barbara DURRENBUR married Blaise SIMON (abt 1620-1678) of Mitzach. Blaise SIMON was the Garde Peche Seigneurial (fish warden for the Abbe). Still another family line can be traced to Wilhelm FROST (abt 1580-1643). Wilhelm FROST died in Malmerspach. His daughter, Barbara FROST (abt 1600-1644) married Pierre HALLER of Ranspach.

Moschbach, is now a district of Moosch. It is the origin of the Jean MORITZ and Anne HEINRICH families (b. abt 1630) as well as Gaspard WELCKER (b. abt 1630). All of these families married into the REBISCHUNG family. The HEINRICH (HENRY) family originated in 1565 In Bussang - Vosges. They lived in Storkensohn and Mitzach before marrying into the GRUENWALD/WEINACHT/BELTZUNG/MUNSCH/GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG line.

Vogelbach. Vogelbach is now a disctrict of St Amarin. It was the home of Antoine STOLTZLIN born around 1530. His son Claus Burcard STOLTZLIN (b. abt 1560) who married Anne MUNSCH of Fellering was the Prevot de la Vallee St Amarin Goldbach, Neuhouse. Neuhouse is now a district of Goldbach. The earliest citation for Neuhouse is around 1580 where Jean Jacques RUDLER was born. His son, Jean RUDLER (abt 1610 - 1683) was married to Clara LUTTRINGER (abt 1610 - 1676) also of Neuhouse. He was the Prevot vallee St Amarin. Their son Jean Jacques le Vieux RUDLER (abt1641-1721) was an innkeeper in Neuhouse. His daughter Brigitte (1670-17250 married into Balthazar SCHERRER from Bitschwiller in 1695 and they moved to that village.

Jean Jacques WALDER (1664-1740) lived in Goldback. He was married to Marie MATHIS (b. abt 1665). His father, Jean WALDER had emigrated from Canton Soleure in Switzerland and married, Brigitte RUDLER (B. abt 1640). They married into the SCHERRER/REBISCHUNG family.
