The GREWEYER family is from Oberbruck near Dolleren. Anne Catherine GREWEYER born about 1681 in Oberbruck married Jean Adam SCHMID of Bitschwiller in 1701. The family remained in Bitschwiller, subsequently marrying into the HALLER/OLANIE family.
Dolleren, is the home of the STEGER family who married into both the HALLER/OLANIE line and the REBISCHUNG/GSTALTER lines in Bitschwiller. The earliest mention of STEGER is Nicolas born in 1590. Nicholas STEGER married a girl from the village, Christine KACHLER (b.1596) in 1617 in Sewen. Their son Michel STEGER (1615-1693) became the Maire of the Sewen Vallee. He married Anne Marie REIN (b. 1616) of Sewen in 1636. Their daughter Marguerite STEGER (b. 1637) married Nicholaus ERHART and moved to Rimbach-pres-Mas.
Wegsheid. Our one link to the village of Wegscheid is Catharina BOVE who married Andreas BELTZUNG of Bourbach and moved to that village around 1690.
Houppach and Bourbach le Haut The BELTZUNG family can be traced to 1550 with Jean L'aine PELSON born in Houppach. His son, Jean le Jeune BELTZUNG who was born 1580. Jean le Jeune BELTZUNG was a woodcutter. He moved to Masevaux and married Walbourque GLADEY in 1603. Their son, Conrad BELTZUNG (1607 - 1677) was born in Masevaux and there married Anne MARTIN in 1642. They moved to Bourbach le Haut, where their son Andre BELTZUNG was born in 1643. Andre BELTZUNG married Catherine BOVE from Sewen in 1683. The family then settled in Bitschwiller where Auguste BELTZUNG was born in 1692. The family stayed in Bitschwiller and married into the GSTALTER/REBISCHUNG family. The BELTZONG's include:
