Johannes Hansson/Johanson/Johannesson (which later became Lind)

 

Johannes Hansson/Johanson/Johannesson was born 22 Jun 1785 in Ingatorp, Sweden, married Stina Svendotter 30 Dec 1807 in Sweden and died 12 Jan 1831 - probably in Sweden.  His name has also been seen as "Johannes Lord". 

 

Stina Svendotter was born 14 Dec 1785 in Edshult, Sweden and died 13 May 1840 - probably in Sweden.

 

The children of Johannes and Stina were:

 

1.       Hans Peter (Johanson/Johannesson), born 27 Sep 1808 Ingatörp, Jön, Köpings, Sän Sweden, married Sarah Maria Anderson/Andersdotter 9 Jul 1837 in Sweden, immigrated to America in 1855, died 22 Jan 1892 Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA and is buried in the Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.

2.       Stina Greta, born 7 Oct 1810 Ingatorp Sweden, married Carl Magnus Faust, died circa 1900 Freehold Township, Warren Co PA.  Carl was born circa 1808 in Sweden and died circa 1888 in Freehold Township, Warren Co PA.

3.       Johannes Johanson, born 2 May 1813 Söderbytt Hessliby, Sweden, married (1) Susanna Petersdotter 28 Feb 1841 and (2) Anna Johanna Benson 19 Jan 1842, died 27 Jan 1888 at his home in Lottsville PA.  Susanna was born 6 Mar 1813 Hessliby Sweden and died 19 Jul 1884 in Lottsville PA.  Anna was born 19 Jan 1842 Sweden and died 10 Jan 1907 Lottsville PA.  They are both buried in the Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.

4.       Anna Brita, born 26 Jul 1816 Edshult Sweden, married Hans Peter Johnson, died 10/20 Jan 1892 Freehold Township, Warren Co PA.  Hans died 16 Dec 1873 in Freehold Twp, Warren Co PA.

5.       John Magnus, born 3 Jan 1820 Hesselby Sweden, married Anna Matilda Johnson, died 4 Jul 1887 Sweden.

6.       Marie, born 5 Apr 1826 Wallnas Sweden, married John Nelson, died Freehold Township, Warren Co PA.  John died in Minnesota.

7.       Lenna Karin, born 2 Oct 1830 Hesselby Sweden, married Lars F. Johnston, died Nov 1909 Freehold Township, Warren Co PA.  Lars was born 7 Nov 1827 Nykil Sweden and died 9 Nov 1888 Freehold Twp, Warren Co PA.

8.       Carl Fredrick, born 6 Mar 1824, died 7 Jul 1824.

 

 

 

Hans Peter Johaneson/Johannesson (which later became Lind)

 

Hans Peter (Johanson/Johannesson) Lind was born 27 Sep 1808 in Ingatörp, Jön, Köpings, Sän Sweden.  He married Sarah Maria Anderson/Andersdotter on 9 Jul 1837 in Sweden.  Hans died 22 Jan 1892 in Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.  He is buried in the Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.  The family immigrated to America in 1855.  Hans and all his siblings changed their name from Johannesson to Lind when they immigrated to America.

 

Sarah Maria Anderson/Andersdotter was born 23 Oct 1813 in Vimmerby (Kalmar Sän) Sweden, died 2 Feb 1895 on Lind Hill, Warren Co PA and is buried in the Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.  Her parents are unknown.

 

The children of Hans Peter and Sarah Maria (Anderson/Andersdotter) Lind were:

 

1.       Anna Maria, born 16 Jan 1838 Ingatorp Sweden, married Carl (Charles) Peter Sandberg 6 Nov 1859 - probably Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA, died 4 Dec 1924 Wrightsville, Warren Co PA, buried Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.  Please see the chapter entitled Sandberg for details on the descendants of this union.

2.       Christine Carin, born 28 Aug 1839 Ingatorp, Sweden (location and date per Lind Reunion Book - but her headstone says her birthdate was 17 Aug 1836 and her obit says her birthdate and location were 17 Aug 1837 Kronebergslan, Sweden), married August Neal in Pittsburgh PA, died 16 Dec 1924 Louriston Twp, Chippewa Co MN, buried Louriston Cemetery (aka Buffalo Lake Mission Covenant Church), Louriston Twp, Chippewa Co MN.  Below are obituaries for Christine:

Mrs. Christine Neal, of Louriston twp, died Tuesday night at the home of her son Chas, in that township. The funeral will be held today (Friday) from the Chas Neal home at 1 o'clock and from the Mission church at 2 o'clock.

Mrs. Christine Neal died at the home of her son, Charles, in Louriston Tuesday, Dec 16, at the age of eighty-seven years, three months, and twenty-nine days.  Christine Neal was born in Kronebergslan, Sweden, August 17, 1837.  At the age of twenty-five she was united in marriage to August Neal in Pittsburg, Pa.

She leaves to mourn her loss, 10 children, 6 daughters and 4 sons, 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Neal had been a resident of Louriston, Chippewa county for the past 50 years.

Funeral services for the departed one were held at the home of her son, Charley Neal, Friday, Dec 19, at 1 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in Buffalo Lake Mission Church cemetery.

 

3.       Sara Greta, born 5 Mar 1841 Sweden, died 5 Jun 1843 Sweden.

4.       Peter Johan, born 6 May 1843 Ingatorp Sweden, died 15 Sep 1862 in Alexandria VA while serving in the Civil War, buried (at least he is listed on the Lind monument) Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.  Peter was a member of the 111 Regiment, PA Volunteers.

5.       Carl August, born 1 Nov/Dec 1844 Ingatorp Sweden, married Matilda Maria Lundborn/Lundgren 10 Apr 1871, died 22 Apr 1924, Warren, PA.  Charley died of burns while burning brush at Pittsfield.  Matilda was born 14 Dec 1844 in Skede Sweden and died 25 Dec 1905 Pittsfield PA.

6.       John (Johannes), born 24 Jun 1847 Ingatorp Sweden, died 1864 Savannah GA while serving in the Civil War, buried (at least he is listed on the Lind monument), Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA. Peter was a member of the 111 Regiment, PA Volunteers.

7.       Anders Frank/Fredrick, born 13 Mar 1849 Vimmerby Sweden, married (1) Anna Louisa Lundgren 25 Feb 1872 and (2) Anna Sophia Banks 20 Oct 1886, died 13 Jun 1908 on Lind Hill, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.  Anna was born 14 Dec 1844 in Skede Jönköping Lön Smöland Sweden and died 10 Dec 1884 at her home on Lind Hill, Pittsfield Twp, Warren Co PA.  They are both buried in Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.

8.       Otto Welhan, born 15 Feb 1851 Sweden, died 17 Jun 1851 in infancy in Sweden.

9.       Frans Otto, born 6/16/1854 Sweden, died 11/2/1854 died in infancy in Sweden.

10.   Albert, born 9 Jan 1855, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA, died circa 1860 Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA, buried the Berea/Lutheran/Swedish Cemetery, Three Point, Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.

11.   Samuel, died in infancy.

 

Berea Cemetery Information: According to Mr. Terry Barton, an extremely helpful person in Youngsville PA, the Berea cemetery has been referred to as the Berea, Lutheran, Swedish and sometimes Freehold Cemetery for some time.  It is located 7 miles west of Youngsville on Rt. 6, at the intersection of Routes 6 and 958.  This intersection is called "Three Point".  The cemetery is located in Pittsfield Township, Warren Co PA.

 

The grave marker for Hans Peter Lind and his family-made of sandstone was becoming unreadable so in 1982 a bronze plaque was attached giving all the previously obliterated information. This project was undertaken by Elton Barton, Kenneth Lind and Dora Hajnik with monies donated by relatives at a cost of $216.00.

 

Wrightsville Cemetery Information: According to Mr. Terry Barton, the cemetery is located in Wrightsville, Freehold Township, Warren Co PA.
