Welcome to our Family History. The Thon's originated from somewhere in Germany,maybe around Frankfurt,as we have cousins living there today. Gotthilf Gottlieb Gottchalk Thon,son of Wilhelm Thon and Doris Unknown was born in 1841,and came to Philadelphia,Pa in 1874,according to his Letter of Intent.Apparently he had married Hannah Bertha Happel in Germany,around 1858 and fathered at least one child there.They seem to have lived briefly in New York City.Little is known of their port of Departure or Arrival. He apparently never filed a Petition of Naturalization,in Phila. Co.Courts. A son,William Augustus,was born in Philadelphia,in 1884 and married Mary Edith Agnes Bates.They had 2 boys,William (Billy) ,who died at 4,and George,who married Florence May (Davis) Grieb, daughter of George Alva Davis and Mary Emma Spreckley. They had 6 children,of which, Sheryl was the only surviving child. Sheryl Thon married first,Thomas Gary Puckett of South Haven,Michigan, and had Cynthia Lynn and James Scott Puckett. She then divorced him and married Jerry Lynn Moore and had Mark Owen Moore. Jerry adopted both children from the first marriage. They separated in 2002,and he died of a massive stroke on December 1st,2007.
