Some census listings of St
John
the Baptist Parish are subdivided into wards. The parish is
divided
into six such units, three on each side of the Mississippi River.
Wards 1, 2 and 3 are on the West Bank and Wards 4, 5 and 6 are on the
East
Bank of the river.
Ward 1: From St Charles Parish
line
extending upriver to the 2nd Ward. The community of Lucy is in
the
1st Ward.
Ward 2: Center portion of West
Bank
extending from 1st Ward upriver to the 3rd Ward. Edgard, the Parish
Seat,
is in the 2nd Ward.
Ward 3: End of 2nd Ward
extending
upriver to the St James Parish line. The community of Wallace is
in the 3rd Ward.
Ward 4: From St Charles
Parish
line extending upriver to the 5th Ward. Laplace, the largest
community
in the parish, is in the 4th Ward as are the areas known as Crevasse
and
Frenier and Ruddock.
Ward 5: Center portion of East
Bank
extending from 4th Ward upriver to the 6th Ward. The community of
Reserve is in the 5th Ward as is the area known as Lions.
Ward 6: End of 5th Ward
extending
upriver to the St James Parish line. The communities of Garyville
and Mt Airy are in the 6th Ward.
