Descendants of Samuel Heffer of Exning, Suffolk
The majority of emigrant Heffers who settled in Monroe County, N.Y. were the children and grandchildren of Thomas Heffer, who was this Samuel's younger brother. Samuel and Thomas were sons of John (1747 - 1827)?? and Elizabeth Heffer. These pages identify Samuel's own descendants, who in later generations were living in New York State and the Bay of Quinte area across Lake Ontario.
The emigrants were:
- Jonathan Ashman Heffer and Lydia Eliza Warren, who with their two children emigrated to the U.S. in 1857 on the 'American Eagle'.
- George Heffer, son of William Heffer and Ellen Pettet, who was in Clifton by 1870.
- George's brother Robert Heffer and Martha Warren, who with their six children emigrated to Canada in 1874 on the 'Sarmatian'. A grandson, Robert C. Heffer, moved from Canada to the Rochester area in the 20th century.
