Notes for Lester Cecil Harris:

12/7/98 email from Daughter Sue Simpson: "You mentioned...that your dad had a gas station.  Grandpa (Thomas Harris) had one, too.  I think in East Chicago (IN).  Daddy was very badly burned there when he was in his teens, on his legs..a gasoline fire.  They did skin grafts fromt he skin on Grandma's stomach. Pretty advance for that time.  They thought he'd never walk again, but Grandma (Arminta) worked with him until he could.  His legs bothered him some in later life, but it didn't slow him down.  He had horrible scars all over the lower parts of his legs and a few going up his thighs.  As a child it used to embarrass me when he wore swimming trunks because it was so ugly..I was very shallow.  As an adult, I realize how good it was that he wasn't embarrassed about it.  Probably a good lesson for his children.  'Nother family story for the file."
