            This is the last Will and Testament of William Jones of Lanwinny Farm in the parish of Langoven in the County of Monmouth, bearing date this sixth day of July one thousand eight hundred and forty six.

            I give and bequeath the whole of my property of all sorts and discriptions upon trust to my trustees hereinafter named, and I will, order and direct that they shall give, pay and apply the interests, profits and dividends unto my dear wife Mary during the term of her natural life.  And after the death of my said wife, and after my own death, I further will, order and direct that my said trustees shall as soon as possible, and convenient to them turn and convert into money the whole of my said property, and after all my just debts and funeral expences are paid my money shall be divided into two equal parts.  And I further will, order, and direct that the one part of my said money shall be equally divided between my brother John Jones (or his heirs) my brother Thomas Jones (or his heirs) and my sister Fanny Jones the wife of Edward Jones of Lanishen (or her heirs).  And I order and direct that they shall share and share alike in the one said part.  The other part of my said money I will, order, and direct shall be equally divided between the following named relations of my wife:  that is to say between Mrs Mary Pritchard of the Pentry Farm, Lansoy (or her heirs) her son John Pritchard (or his heirs) and Mary Charles the wife of Edward Charles of Langibby (or her heirs).  And I order and direct that they shall share and share alike in the other part of my said money.

            It is my particular wish that the cottage and land in Lanishen (which is paid acknowledgement for) may become the property of my brother John (or his heir) but I will and direct that whenever my brother John (or his heir) shall take possession of the same the sum of five pounds shall immediately be paid to my niece Abigal Jones for her care and kindness towards me and my wife.

            I leave my brother John Jones and Mr Stephen Prosser of Lanvair Farm, Lanishen, the executors and trustees of this my Will. 

            In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year above written.    William (X) Jones, his mark.

 

Signed, published, pronounced and declared by the said testator William Jones as his last Will and Testament before and in the presence of each of us, who have in the presence of the said testator, and in the presence of each other subscribed our names as witnesses and we have done so at the desire and request of the said William Jones.   Henry Warrilow of Lanishen;  David Morgan of Lanishen.

 

29th July 1847.  John Jones the lawful brother of the deceased and Stephen Prosser the joint executors in this Will named was duly sworn as such and that the goods, chattels and credits of the deceased are under the value of four hundred and fifty pounds.  Before me Richd Prichard, Surrogate

The above effects were valued the 9th July 1847 by us the undersigned valuers  Henry Williams of Lanishen;  Henry Lewis of Langoven

 

Diocese of Llandaff   In the Consistory Court. In the Goods of  Mr William Jones deceased,

 

Appeared Personally John Jones of the parish of Kilgorrwg in the County of Monmouth yeoman and Stephen Prosser of the parish of Lanishen in the said County the  joint Executors named in the last Will and Testament of the said  William Jones late of the parish of   Langoven  in the said County farmer deceased, who died on the twenty eighth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven and made Oath that the Estate and Effects of the said deceased, for and in respect of which a Probate of the said Will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of four hundred and fifty     Pounds, to the best of these Deponent’s knowledge, information, and belief.  And  they  lastly made Oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of any Leasehold Estate or Estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on a life or lives to the best of these Deponent’s knowledge, information and belief.  John Jones, Stephen Prosser
