            This is the last Will and Testament of me William Harris of the parish of Trevethin in the County of Monmouth farmer.  First I give devise and bequeath unto my friend Daniel Jones of Coed y David in the said Parish of Trevethin  farmer all that my moiety or share in those two houses with the appurtenances thereunto belonging situate near the Wesleyan Chappel in the said parish of Trevethin now in the respective occupations of Thomas Lewis and [BLANK] Martin his heirs and assigns for ever.  And I give devise and bequeath unto my two friends Aaron Harris of the parish of Mamhilad in the County of Monmouth farmer and David Davies of the town of Ponty Pool innkeeper the whole of the remainder of all my copyhold leasehold and other my property of whatever nature or description the same may be wheresoever and whatsoever (after deducting all lawfull and reasonable expences) in trust first to pay all my just debts funeral testamentary and other expences then to pay over the whole of the proceedings of my said property to my wife Mary Harris during her life or so long as she shall remain unmarried after my decease  then the whole of my copyhold lands situate near Blaen y cwm in the said parish of Trevethin called and known by the name of Pentwyn Mawr to go and belong to my three daughters Ann Harris, Mary Harris and Margaret Harris their respective heirs and assigns for ever share and share alike provided they shall attain the age of twenty one years if not then to go and be divided amongst the survivors or survivor of them share and share alike.  And then the whole of the remainder of my property of whatsoever nature or description the same may be to go and belong to my two sons John Harris and Aaron Harris their heirs and assigns for ever but subject to the payment of the sum of one hundred pounds to each of my said three daughters Ann Harris, Mary Harris and Margaret Harris provided they severally and respectively shall attain the age of twenty one years and my said wife Mary Harris should have departed this life if not the same to be paid within six months after my said wife. And also liable to the several mortgages now due to William Phillips of Penycae for the sum of three hundred and twenty pounds to a Friendly Society the sum of one hundred pounds to Henry Miles the sum of one hundred pounds to Philip Williams the sum of fifty pounds and to Morgan Thomas the sum of twenty pounds.  And I herby also nominate constitute and appoint my said two friends Aaron Harris and David Davies executors of this my last Will and Testament.  In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set and subscribed my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight.  William Harris

 

Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Harris as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses thereto  Thos Greenway, innkeeper, Pontnewynidd;  Thomas Legg, shopkeeper, Sow Hill;  Francis Williams, shopkeeper, Sow Hill

 

8th day of April 1839.  Aaron Harris the lawful brother of the deceased and David Davies the joint executors named in this Will were duly sworn as such and that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased were under the value of two hundred pounds before me John Probert, Surrogate

Diocese of  Llandaff In the Consistory Court In the Goods of Mr William Harris deceased,

 

Appeared Personally  Aaron Harris  of the parish of Mamhilad in the County of  Monmouth farmer and David Davies of the town of Pontypool in the said County innkeeper the joint Executors named in the last Will and Testament of the said  William Harris late of the parish of Trevethin in the said County farmer   deceased, who died on the thirteenth day of   September  last and made Oath that the Estate and Effects of the said deceased, for and in respect of which a Probate of the said Will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of two hundred     Pounds, to the best of this Deponent’s knowledge, information, and belief.  And  lastly made Oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of any Leasehold Estate or Estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on a life or lives to the best of these Deponent’s knowledge, information and belief.
