In the name of God Amen the thirtinth day of February in the year of our Lord God acording to the English computacion one thousand six hundred seventy eight I John Wattkin the elder of the pishe of Cumcarvan in the County of Monmoth, yeoman, sick and weake of body but of good and pfect memory laud and praise be to almighty God doe make and ordayne this my last will and testament in maner and form following, that is to say, first I comend my soule into the hands of allmighty God hoping asuridly through the meritts and p’cious death and deare passion of Jesus Christ my saviour to be made p’taken of life everlasting and my body to the earth whereof it was made.
Item I give and bequeath towards the repacion of the Church of Landaf five penc. Item I give towards my forgotten tyth six penc. Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne James Watkin ten shillings of good and lawfull moneys. Item I give unto John Wattkin my sonne ten shillings of good and lawfull moneys. Item I give unto my sonne Thomas Wattkin ten shillings of good and lawfull moneys. Item I give unto my sonne Moses Wattkin ten shillings of good and lawfull moneys. Item I give unto my sonne Daniell Wattkin ten shillings of good and lawfull money. Item I give unto Aron Wattkin my granchild ten shillings of good and lawfull money. Item I give unto my granchild Elizabeth Wattkin ten shillings of good and lawfull moneys. Item I give unto Anne Wattkin my granchild ten shillings of good and lawfull money. These legacys wch I John Wattkin doe gve unto my granchilds are to be paid unto them or unto their tutor and gardian towards their use. Item I give and bequeath unto Jane my well beloved wife all my chatle catill and all my househould stuffe and all my corn growing and all other corn wch is upon my land lastly I doe nominate & apoynt my said wife Jane to be sole executor of this my last will and testament and doe hereby revocke all former wills by me made and all former legacys by me given to be voyde in law.
