            I Thomas Lewis of the parish of Langwm, County of Monmouth and Diocess of Landaff feeling decayd in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory and as touching my worldly goods and effects, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in maner and form following.  First I give devise and bequeath unto my son Thomas Lewis the tenement of lands or messuages lying in the parish of Trevethin and the house in Trosnant with all their apurtenances imediatly after my beloved wife Rachel Lewis’s decease.  Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the sume of five shillings.  Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Martha the sume of five shillings.  Lastly I nominate ordain and apoint my said beloved wife Rachel Lewis and my two daughters Rachel and Hannah Lewis to be joynt executors to all my other personal estates within and without wch I now possess or what I may have hereafter a just claim to be equally divided share and share like between them all three within six months next after my decease revoking and disanulling all other Wills and Testaments either in writing or nuncupative by me made, I ratify this to be my last Will and Testament, as witness my hand and seal this thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord 1700 and sixty.  The mark of Thomas (T) Lewis.

October the 16th 1766.  Rachel Lewis, spinster, the natural and lawfull daughter one of the surviving executrixes in this Will named, was sworn well and faithfully to execute the same, to exhibite an inventory &c and to render an account &c (power being first reserved to Rachel Lewis, widow, the relict, the other surviving executrix &c) before me Nath Wells

 

This Will was proved at Caerleon on the sixteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty six before the Reverend Mr Nathaniel Wells, Clerk, Master of Arts, the Chancellor’s Surrogate, by Rachel Lewis, spinster, the natural and lawfull daughter one of the surviving executrixes in this Will named who was first on the holy Evangelists personally sworn well and faithfully to execute the same to exhibite an inventory &c and render a just account of her administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required (power being first reserved to Rachel Lewis, widow, the relict of the said deceased the other surviving executrix in this Will named when she applies for the same)
