            In the name of God Amen I Thomas Jenkins of the parish of Langoven & County of Monmouth yeoman being of sound mind memory and understanding thanks be to Almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say).  I give and bequeath unto my brother in law John Tudor and Margaret his wife and their heirs for ever all that messuage & tenement of land which I purchased of Mr Jerry? of Buckland situated in the parish of Langoven subject to the several legacies hereafter mention’d that I do will and order to be paid out of the lands and premisses I bequeath’d to the said John Tudor and Margaret his wife &c.  Item I give and bequeath to my brother John Jenkins the sum of six pounds.  I give to my sister Jane Herbert the sum of one guinea and one bushel of wheat.  I give to my nephews William Jenkins and Thomas Jenkins and my niece Mary Jenkins sons and daughter of my brother Charles Jenkins the sum of one guinea to be divided between them share and share alike.  I give to my nephew William James of Penyclawth the sum of four pounds.  I give to my nephew John James half a guinea.  I give to my nephew Thomas Tudor the sum of fourty pounds, three covers of fallow ground joining to the New House and seed wheat enough to sow it, also I give him the said Thomas Tudor a two year old filley with a white face.  I give to my nephew William Tudor the sum of ten pounds.  I give to my nephew Walter Tudor the sum of ten pounds.  I give to my two nieces Mary and Anne Tudor the sum of ten pounds apiece.  I give to my niece Anne Tudor my bed and all the appurtenances thereunto belonging also I give her the largest brass kettle to be deliver’d to her when she demands them or when her necessity does require it.  I give to my two nieces Mary and Anne Tudor half of my houshold goods to be divided between them share and share alike immediately after their mother’s decease.  I give to William son of Thomas Tudor the sum of twenty shillings.  I give to my nephew John Tudor of Trecastle formerly now of Tregare the sum of twenty shillings.  I give to John son of John Tudor of Tregare the sum of two pounds.  I give to Margaret Parry the sum of two pounds.  I give to Harry Richards of Skenfrith, if alive, the sum of ten shillings, and if not alive I give it to his son.  I give to Thomas son of John Tudor of Tregare the sum of twenty shillings.  I give and bequeath unto my niece Ann daughter of John Edwards half a guinea.  All and each of the several legacies by me herein bequeathed I do charge it payable out of the lands and premisses by me given to John Tudor and Margaret his wife and their heirs within one year after my decease.  I give and bequeath all the residue and remainder of my personal estate stock, houshold goods not by me before bequeath unto John Tudor and Margaret his wife towards paying a debt of ten pounds I owe to my sister Jane Herbert by a Note of Hand and all rents due, servants wages and all other my just debts & funeral expences.  I do appoint my brother in law John Tudor and Margaret his wife to be joint executors of this my last will and Testament revoking all former wills by me heretofore made and do will and appoint this to be my last will and Testament.  In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven.  The mark of Thomas (J) Jenkins

April the 11th 1758.  John Tudor and Margaret his wife, the sister, the executors in this Will named were sworn well and faithfully to execute the same to exhibite an inventory &c and to render an account &c before me Nath Wells, Surrogate

 

This Will was proved at Abergavenny on the eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight, before the Reverend Mr Nathaniel Wells, Clerk, Master of Arts, the Chancellor’s Surrogate, by John Tudor and Margaret his wife, the sister, the executors in this Will named, who were first on the holy Evangelists personally sworn well and faithfully to execute the same to exhibite an inventory &c and to render a just account of their administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required
