                In the name of God Amen I Thomas Gwinn of the parish of Treleck in the County of Monmouth yeoman being of sound and disposing mind and memory, yet considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do think it necessary to make and ordain this my last Will and Testam’t in manner and form following.  I do first of all resign myself soul and body to the mercy of God in Christ Jesus.  Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter in law Jane Gwinn of the parish of Treleck and County aforesaid (being the widow of Rowland Gwynn) the sum of one shilling to be paid her by my executors herein after nam’d at the end of one year after my decease.  Item I give and bequeath unto my two grandsons Edward and Thomas the sons of Thomas Gwinn deceas’d the sum of fifty shillings a piece to be paid to each of them likewise by my execut’s when they arrive at the age of twelve years, towards settling them to trade and if one of them should happen to die before he arrives at the age of twelve years, the surviving brother shall receive the two legacies bequeath’d to them both.  I do nominate and appoint my son in law Thomas Howell of the parish of Lanishen and Anne his wife to be only and sole execut’s of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighth day of June in the year of our Lord 1762.  The mark of Thomas (T) Gwinn.

October the 15th 1765.  Thomas Howell the surviving executor in this Will named was sworn well and faithfully to execute the same to exhibite an inventory &c and to render an account &c before me Nath’l Wells, Surrogate

 

This Will was proved at Abergavenny on the fifteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty five, before the Reverend Mr Nathaniel Wells, Clerk, Master of Arts, the Chancellor’s Surrogate, by Thomas Howell the surviving executor in this Will named who was first on the holy Evangelists personally sworn well and faithfully to execute the same, to exhibite an inventory &c and to render a just account of his administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required
