            I Thomas Dixon now residing at No 13 Kings Parade, Pillgwenlly, Newport in the parish of St Woollos in the County of Monmouth, printer, being in good state of health, sound mind, memory and understanding do make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following – that is to say – First I nominate, constitute and appoint my Aunt Sarah Lloyd the wife of David Lloyd, Master Mariner, sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament.  Secondly I also give and bequeath to my said Aunt Sarah Lloyd the leasehold dwelling house being No 12 Kings Parade, Pillgwenlly, Newport in the parish of St Woollos in the County of Monmouth for her own use and purposes.  Thirdly I also give and bequeath to my said Aunt Sarah Lloyd all my Club money, watch, clothes and other effects whatsoever nature or kind for her own use and purposes.  Fourthly I also give and bequeath to my Aunt Sarah Lloyd all money I might be in possession of or having any claim to at the time of my death on trust that she will defray my funeral expenses therefrom making null and void all former Wills by me made,  I sign, seal and deliver this as my last Will and Testament this fifth day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine.  Thomas Dixon (LS)

            Signed, sealed and published and declared by the testator Thomas Dixon as and for his last Will and Testament and have at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other signed our names as witnesses thereto  John Thomas;  John Jones.

 

            In Her Majesty’s Court of Probate.  The District Registry at Llandaff.  In the goods of Thomas Dixon deceased.  I John Thomas of No 35 Raglan Street in the Borough of Newport in the County of Monmouth, Accountant, make oath and say that I am one of the subscribing witnesses to the last Will and Testament of Thomas Dixon late of Kings Parade, Pillgwenlly in the Borough of Newport in the County of Monmouth, printer, deceased, the said Will being now hereunto annexed bearing date the fifth day of October one thousand eight hundred hundred and sixty nine.  And that the said testator executed the said Will on the day of the date thereof by signing his name at the foot or end thereof as the same now appears thereon in the presence of me and John Jones the other subscribed witness thereto both of us being present at the same time and we thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said testator.      John Thomas

 

            Sworn by the said John Thomas at Newport in the County of Monmouth this forth day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy.  Before me Thos A Llewellin, a Commissioner to administer oaths in Chancery in England.

 

            Proved at Llandaff on the tenth day of January 1870 by the oath of Sarah Lloyd (wife of David Lloyd) the aunt, the sole executrix to whom administration was granted.

            The testator Thomas Dixon was late of Kings Parade, Pillgwenlly in the Borough of Newport in the County of Monmouth, printer, and died on the fifth day of December 1869 at King’s Parade, Pillgwenlly aforesaid.
