Wm Spooner. Lanvedow, Michaelstone y Vedw, Glam WILL 13 Oct 1851 LL/1851/l80

 

In the name of God Amen I William Spooner. Farmer, of the Hamlet of Lanvedow in the County of Glamorgan being very sick and weak in body but of a perfect mind and memory and knowing that ills appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say. Principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God --? it. and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I give and bequeath to my beloved son and two daughters namely Thomas Spooner, Mary Lewis the wife of William Lewis, Cecilia Matthews widow of the late Edmund Matthews, the sum of one pound to each and every one of them. Also I give and bequeath to my other two beloved sons namely David and Ely Spooner the sum five pounds to each and both of them of lawful money of Great Britain to be raised and levied out of my estate and be paid or transferred by my executors to each and every one of them within twelve months after my decease. Likewise I give and bequeath to my well beloved son and daughter namely Daniel and Sarah Spooner whom I do constitute, make and ordain the sole executors (jointly and separately) of this my last will and testament all and singular my household goods, cattle and chattels, debts and moveable effects by them freely to be possessed and enjoyed excepting Daniel Spooner the joint executor will contract matrimony during the life of his sister Sarah Spooner the other joint executrix. If so he will not be entitled to one half but shall receive the one fourth of all they shall then be in possession of consequently the three fourth of the property will be Sarah’s and her assigns for ever. And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, will, legacies. bequests and executors by me in any wise before named willed and bequeathed, ratified and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight.

Signed, sealed, pronounced and declared by the said William Spooner as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names Thomas Spencer. Edward Phillips

Daniel Spooner the lawful son of the deceased and the executor named in this was duly sworn as such and that the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased are under the value of one hundred pounds (power being first reserved for making the like grant to Sarah Spooner. spinster, the lawful daughter of the said deceased and the executrix named in this will whenever she shall apply for the same) Before me Richd Prichard, Surrogate

Appeared personally Daniel Spooner of the Parish of Michaelstone y Vedw in the County of Glamorgan. Farmer, the executor named in the last will and testament of the said William Spooner late of the Hamlet of Lanvedow in the Parish of Michaelstone y Vedw in the County of Glamorgan aforesaid, farmer, deceased, who died on the eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one and made oath that the estate and effects of the said deceased, for and in respect of which a Probate of the said will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a trustee for any other person or persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting any thing on account of the debts due and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of one hundred pounds to the best of this deponent’s knowledge, information and belief. And he lastly made oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of any leasehold estate or estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on a life or lives to the best of this deponent’s knowledge.
