Henry Slocombe. Carhampton. Somerset WILL Proved 4Feb 1714 PROB I1/544

 

In the name of God Amen I Henry Slocombe of Carhampton in the County of Somerset. yeoman. being sick in body but of perfect and disposing mind and memory (thanks be to God) doe make this my last will and testament in manner and form following hereby revoking and annulling all former wills and testaments by me at any time made. First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my Creator trusting that in and through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ my Redeemer and mediator I shall receive the pardon of all my sins and obtain everlasting life, and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named, also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Joan the sum of two hundred pounds to be paid unto her by my executrix when she shall attain the age of one and twenty years and alsoe one silver two handle cup marked JM and one silver sugar dish to be delivered to her after the death of my wife or sooner if she shall think fit, and also four pieces of broad gold. Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anne the sum of two hundred pounds to be paid unto her when she shall attain the age of one and twenty years. and after my wife's death one silver two handle cup marked R?: H?: J:S: 1701 and one silver beaker and three pieces of broad gold, and my will further is that if either of my said daughters shall happen to die before she shall attain the age of one and twenty years then the whole legacy and legacies to her given shall be and remain to her surviving sister. I doe give and bequeath unto my two sisters Anne Milson and Elizabeth Stickland to each of them one shilling. Alsoe I doe give and bequeath unto my brother John Slocombe two suits of apparel both linnen and woollen. All the rest of my goods and chattles, my debts and funeral expenses being discharged I do give and bequeath unto my beloved wife whom I doe make, constitute and appoint lobe whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament. And I request my trusty and well beloved friend John Moore and John Slocombe my brother to be my trustees and to take care that this my will may be performed according to the true intent and meaning hereof. And for so doing I doe give and bequeath to each of them after --? and my will further is that if any of my debts which are owing to me shall happen to be lost or not recoverable --? the insolvency of my debtors that in such case the --? --? fall upon my two daughters and that they shall --? --? allow the same to my executrix share and share alike out of their portions or legacies. And in testimony that this is my last will and testament I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of September in the first year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King George Anno Dni 1714.
