In the name of God Amen the seaventh daie of September in ye yere of or Lord one thousand six hundreth sixtie and seaven and in the yere of the raigne of our moste gracious Sovraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England Scotland Fraunce and Ireland Kinge defender of the faieth &c the ninteenth I Jenkine Simonds of the pishe of Goytre in the Countie of Monmoth and Diocs of Landaph yeoman calling to remembrance the uncentie of mans life not knowinge when nor where these our mortall bodies shalbe disolved and mindinge by Gods grace to settle in order such transitorie things as God hath blessed mee wth all to the intent that in mind may be unburthened wth the care thereof when soever it shall please God ..? case for mee or ..? to visict mee wth more extreamisie of sickness beinge nowe sicke in bodie but of good and pfect memorie laud and praise be given to Almightie God doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in writtinge in maner and forme folowinge (that is to saie) first and principally I doe comend my soule unto Almightie God my creator and to Jesus Christe my redeamer by whose moste precious death and passion I hope to have forgivenes of all my sins and my bodie to be buried in Xtian buriall. Item I give and bequeath towards the Cathedrall Church of Landaph six pence. Item I give and bequeath to the Rector of Goytre towards my tiethes forgotten or unpaid six pence. Item I doe give and devise the messuage wherein I doe now inhabite one barne one garden one orchardge and all the lands thereunto belonginge wth thappurtenances except one pcell of arrable land called Ca Mame lyinge in Goytre conteyninge by estimacon five acres or thereabouts adioyninge to the lane leadinge from Kyd? Lloyreen? towards the mansion house of William Mathew to Margaret my beloved wife dureinge her naturall life but in case if shee doth marie then I doe give and devise thor? moity thereof to my sonn Roger and the whole after her decesse (except before excepted). Item I give and devise all the lands by ..? Robert wch I had and purchased of David ap Evan to Margarett my wife duringe her naturall life and after her decesse I doe give and devise all the said lands unto my yonger sonn William his heires & assignes forever uppon consideration that hee shall paie eight pounds of lawfull English money unto Jenet my daughter wthin six monthes next after the decease of Margaret ? soe default of payment of the said eight pownds in maner aforesaid then my will and meaning is that my daughter Jenet shall quietly and peaceable enioy and possesse the said lands for the first three yeres next after the decease of Margaret my said wife to have and to hould all the said lands wth thappurtenances unto the said William Simonds my said sonn his heires and assignes forever. Item I doe doe give and devise the pcell of land (before excepted) called Cae Mame unto my beloved wife Margaret duringe her naturall life and after her decesse to my sonn Roger uppon consideracon that hee shall pay tenn pownds of lawfull English money unto Jenet my daughter wthin the space of one whole yere next after the decease of Margaret my wife but in cause that my said sonn Roger doth make default of payment of the said some of tenn pownds in maner aforesaid then I doe give and devise the said pcell of land before menconed called Cae Maind unto my said daughter Jenet her heires and assignes forever. Item I doe give and bequeath all my goods and moveables whatsoever unto my beloved wife Margaret towards the dischardgeinge of my debts and funerall expences and doe appoynt her sole executrix of this my last will and testament and doe revole and disannull all former wills by me made.
