In the name of God Amen I Thomas Rosser of the Town of Monmouth and County of Monmouth, Gent, do make this my last will and testament in manner following. First I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be first paid and satisfied by my said trustees out of my Trelleck estate. Item I give and devise all my real estates whatsoever in the parish of Trelleck aforesaid in the County of Monmouth to my friends John Lloyd of Gwerny Mellin in the parish of Tregare in the said County of Monmouth. farmer. Thomas Prichard of Trelleck. farmer, and James Prosser of Penalt, farmer and their heirs in trust nevertheless to the uses following that is to say to the use of my son Henry Rosser and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten but in case my son Henry shall happen to die without issue lawfully begotten that then my said trustees shall stand and be seized thereof to the use of my third son James and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and in case my said son James shall happen to die without lawful issue that then my said trustees shall stand and be seized thereof to the use and behoof of my two grandsons Thomas and Charles Stead, sons of Thomas Stead of the said Town of Monmouth, blacksmith, deceased, to be equally divided between them share and share alike for ever. Item I give and devise unto my said trustees John Lloyd, Thomas Prichard and James Prosser and their respective heirs all my real estate in the parish of Langoven and County of Monmouth of what nature soever in trust as aforesaid for the use of my daughter Mary Hades, widow, during her natural life the share of the rent arising therefrom due to my daughter Elizabeth Rosser to be paid into the hands of my daughter Martha Rosser to be by her laid out in the maintenance of my said daughter Elizabeth Rosser and from and immediately after the decease of the said Mary Hades to the use and behalf of my right and next heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my said trustees and their respective heirs the money arising from the sale of my two houses in Bristol to be by them paid to my exectrix herein after named. Item I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Martha Rosser the sum of one hundred pounds out of my Cwmcarvan estate as mentioned by a deal of settlement made between my son William Rosser and his wife Ann Rosser. Item I give and bequeath the sum of fifteen pounds in the hands of Francis Morgan of Abergavenny, innholder, and Thomas James of Lanarth, farmer, to the poor of the parish of Cwmcarven in manner following, it is my desire immediately after my decease that this money to be called in and placed out at interest and the interest arising therefrom to be by my son William Rosser and the Churchwardens of the parish of Trelleck and Penalt for the time being and their successors laid out and distributed in bread to the poor of the parish of Cumcarvan for ever. Item I give and devise all the rest and remainder of my personal estates whatsoever unto my said daughter Martha Rosser. Item I give and devise the house wherein I now live unto Thomas Prichard of Trelleck aforesaid and James Prosser of Penalt aforesaid and their heirs in trust to permit and suffer my said daughter mary to have and enjoy the said dwelling house during her natural life and to permit and suffer my said other daughters Martha and Elizabeth to use and enjoy it as often as occasion requires and from and after the decease of my said daughter Mary then in trust for the said Martha and Elizabeth during their natural lives and the life of the longest liver of them and from the decease of the said Martha and Elizabeth and of the survivor of them then to the use and behoof of the right and next heirs of me the said Thomas Rosser for ever. Item I give, devise and bequeath unto my said daughter Elizabeth the sum of two shillings and six pence per week for and during her natural life to be paid her by my said daughter Mary towards her support and maintenance out of my Gadder estate which I give unto my said daughter Mary for ever except the coppice wood fur the next fall thereof thereon standing which I give to my said daur Martha to be by her disposed of in the payment of a sum of money I owe to Mr Geo Catcbmayd the younger and the residue of the money arising therefrom to be by her laid out in repairing the said Gadder House and from and after the clearing of the said wood then I give the same to my said daughter Mary for ever I also charge my said Trelleck estate with the payment of ten pounds to be paid by my said trustees arising from the rent of the said Trelleck estate to Mary the wife of Thomas Williams of Ragland. farmer, at the end of twelve months next after my decease and I do constitute and appoint my said daughter Martha sole executrix. This will was proved at London the fourth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five before the Right Worshipful Sir George Hay, Knight, Doctor of Laws. Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Martha Rosser, spinster, the daughter of the deceased and sole executrix named in the said will to whom administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased was granted having been first sworn by commission duly to administer
