Andrew William Rosser of Goytre.

 

In the name of God Amen the tenth daye of June 1665 accordinge to the computation of the Church of England I Andrew William Rosser of the Com of Monmoth & pishe of Goytre yeoman beinge sick in body but of pfect memory & rememberance praised bee God doe make and ordaine this my last will & testament in maner & forme followinge viz.

First I bequeath my soule to the Allmightie God my maker hopeing that through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour & redeemer to receive free p’don for my sins. And as for my bodie to bee buried in Christian buriall at the discretion of my executrix heareafter mentioned.

Itm I give & bequeath towards the Church of Landaff one shillinge.

It I give towards my forgotten tithes unto the minister of my pish one shillinge.

Itm I give & bequeath my house lands wth all the appurtenances thereunto belonginge in as lardge & ample maner as I at this …? possese it unto my wife Joan Phe duringe her naturall life payinge yearely the sume of twentie shillings at the feast of St Michael the Archangell unto John Andrew. And after the death of the said Joan Phe I doe heareby give & bequeath the fore said menconed lands & tenements wth all appurtenances there unto belonginge wth the me…? of ancient tyme knowen? unto my daughter Margarett Andrew for & duringe her naturall life on this condition that shee payeth or cause paiment to bee truly done yearly the sume of three pounds at every the sd feast of St Michelmis the Archangell the said John Andrew payinge & discharginge on halfe of all taxes & tallages that shall happen concerning the said premisses wth out any deniall whatsoever they may …?

Itm my will is that after the death of the said Joan Phe my said wife & my daughter Margarett Andrew the whole lands & all the appurtenances shall be unto John Andrewe his heires & assignes forever.

Itm I give & bequeath tenne shillings to bee payed by the said Joan Phe duringe her life tyme at the fore sd feast of Michelmas unto Howell Andrew duringe the tearme of his naturall life, & after the death of Joan Phe my wife, that Margarett Andrew continue the paiment of the said tenne shillings at every the feast of St John the Baptist yearely during her life tyme.

Itm I give & bequeath tenne shillings more unto Jane? Andrew duringe her naturall life by Joan Phe & Margarett Andrewe at the feasts afore sd by equall porcions.

Item my will is that Joan & Margarett …? to discharge the debt I owe by especially unto William Andrewe my sonne and others. And I doe appointe & ordayne the said Margarett Andrew sole executrix of this my last will & testament & all goods cattell & chattell for to discharge the foresaid debts whatsoever as by this shee will bee enabled & hereby I doe revoke & disannull all other wills & testaments.

A true inventorie of all the goods cattle and houshould stuffe of Andrew William Rosser late of Goytre in the Countie of Monmoth and Dio’s of Landaph deceased taken and prised by John Jones of Lantilo Ptholey in the said Countie, John Richard of Lanover in the Countie aforesaid and William Andrew of Lanvaire Cullgeedin in the foresd Countie the two and twentieth daie of June in the yere of our Lord 1665 as followeth

The forme of ye oath to be administered to ye executrix.

Ye oath is that ye will hereunto annexed is the true & last will & testament of Andrew William Rosser your late father deceased, that you will well and truly performe the same in paying the legacies therein nenconed according to the tenor thereof, that you will allso pay all and singular ye debts of ye sd dec’ed wch hee did owe at ye time of his decease soe farr as his goods cattells and chattells will thereunto extend & ye law charge you, and that you will make and exhibite or cause to be made & exhibited into the Registry of the Episcopall Co’rt of Landaffe as well a true and p’fect inventary of all and singular the goods cattells and chattells of [page damaged.
