                In the name of God Amen I Phillip Evans of Tygwyn in the parish of Langwm in the County of Monmouth farmer, being of perfect mind and understanding thanks be to God, but calling to mind the mortality of my body and the uncertainty of this life think it necessary to make constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say Principally and first of all I commend my soul to the merciful hand of God through Jesus Christ and give my body to be buried in a decent manner according to the discretion of my executrix and executor herein after named.  And as to such worldly estate, goods and effects as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

 

            I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret Evans all and singular my goods and chattels, houses, lands, stock, furniture and money and whatsoever else to me pertaining to be enjoyed by her during her natural life, but after her decease to be disposed in the following manner.

 

            I give and bequeath to my son Charles Evans the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid him in lawful money by my executor at the end of one year after the decease of my said beloved wife.

            I give and bequeath to my son William Evans the sum of two hundred pounds to be paid in like manner by my executor at the end of one year after the decease of my said dear wife.

            I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Harries the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid likewise by my executor at the end of one year after the decease of my said dear wife.

            All the rest, residue and remainder of my goods, effects, houses, lands, money and whatsoever else to me belonging I give and bequeath to my son Francis Evans to be enjoyed by him and his assigns for ever, after the death of my said beloved wife.

            And I do nominate and ordain my wife Margaret Evans executrix and my son Francis Evans to be executor of this my last will and testament, and make void revoke and disannul every will or wills Testament or Testaments by me heretofore made, confirming ordaining and declaring this to be my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have set hereunto my hand and seal this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen.     Philip Evans

 

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Philip Evans as his last will and testament in our presence and we in his presence and in the presence of each other have set hereunto our names as witnesses of the same.  Thos Williams;  James George;  Wm Jones

 

27th day of May 1822.  Francis Evans the lawful son of the deceased and executor named in this Will was duly sworn as such and that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased are under the value of six hundred pounds (power being reserved for Margaret Evans widow, the relict of the said deceased and executrix also named in this Will &c &c) before me Thos Lewis, Surrogate
