In the name of God Amen I Edward Nicholas of Trellecks Grange in the County of Monmouth, Esqr, being sick in body but of sound & pfect and disposeing memory (prayse be given to the Allmighty God) doe this eighth day of January in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred eighty and three, make and declare this my last will and testament in writeinge in manner and forme followinge, And first of all I doe comend my soule to Allmighty God my creator and redeemer hopeinge that through the meritts and bitter passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have life everlastinge, I comend my body to the earth to be there decently buyryed without any ostentacon. And as for my temporall estate wherewith my good God hath lent and bestowed upon me I doe devise and bequeath the same in manner and to the intent hearafter menconed (that is to say, first that whereas the Right Honoble Edward Marquisse and Earle of Worcesr and the Right Honable the Lord Herbert sonne and heire apparent of the said Right Honable Edward Morgan Marquisse of Worcesr and William Hitchcock of the Citty of Oxford, Gent, did by theire indenture bearinge date the first day of November in the thirteenth yeare of his Maiesties Reigne that now is Kinge Charles the Second for the consideracon therein menconed devise and grannt to me all that capitall messuage or tenement with appurtences called Trellecks Grange in the mannor of Trellecks Grange in the county of Monmoth and all houses, edifices, gardens, orchards, lands, tenemt and hereditamts thereunto belongeinge or uses. To have and to hold to me the said Edward my executor & administrator & assignes from the date of the said indenture for the tearme of ninety and nine yeares from the --? ensuinge and fully to be ended.. If I the said Edward and my two sonns Andrew and Edward or either should happen soe long to live att the yearly rent of one pound five shillings and three couple of capons att certeyne dayes in the said indenture menconed as in and by the said indenture amongst other covenants and agreements therein more att large appeareth, now my will and meaninge is and I doe hereby devise, give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Judith Nicholas the said indenture and all the said messuage lands, tenem'ts nd hereditaments with appurtences in the said indenture menconed and all my estate tearme of yeares and interest thereunto for and dureing her naturall life under the rent , serveces?, covenants and agreements in the said indenture conteyned. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wiefe Judith Nicholas all and every of my goods, cattle, chattells and psonall estate which shall remaine over and above payinge my debts and legacies. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wiefe Judith Nicholas, her executors, administrators and assignes all those my messuage cottages, houses, buildings, gardens, orchards, lands, tenements and hereditaments with theire appurtenances called by the name of Waine y Parke lyinge and being in the pish of Trellecke in the said County of Monmoth which I hold by lease from the ight Honable Earle of Pembrock, to have and to hold to my said wiefe, her executors, administrators and assignes for and dureinge all the tearme and time I have therein to come and unexpired and undetermmined. Item I give and bequeath to my three grandchildren Elizabeth Jones, Joice Jones and Tacy Jones the daughters of Valentine Jones the severall summs of ten pounds apeece to be paid unto every of them within the space of one yeare next after my decease. Item I give unto my grandsonne Richard Taylor the summe of ten pounds to be paid within one yeare after my decease. Item I give to Thomas Evans and John Evans sonns of my wife Judith by Thomas Evans, Gent, her former husband deceased, the summe of ten pounds apeece to be paid within one yeare next after my decease. Item I bequeath unto Mary Evans a daughter of the said Judith my wiefe by her said former husband five pounds as a toaken of rememberance, and allsoe I doase? Unto Anne Probin another daughter of the said Judith my wiefe by the said Thomas Evans five pounds as a toaken of my rememberance. Item I bequeath unto Walter Blower sonne of John Blower of Langoven five pounds to be paid within one yeare next after my decease, and my will and meanninge is that all the said legaties shall not sue or molest my executrix for theire legacies soe that my executrix shall with all the speed shee reasonably can out of my psonall estate pay all my debts, and of this my last will and testament I make, constitute and ordaine my said wiefe Judith Nicholas my sole executrix, and doe hereby revoke all former wills formerly by me made. In wittnesse and testimony of this my last will and testament I have hereunto sett my hand and seale and subscribed the same beinge openly read and published in the presence of John Gabb, gent; William George; Elizabeth Nicholas, spinster, beinge wittnesses thereunto.
