In the name of God Amen. I Robert Merefield the elder of Woolminstone within the parish of Crewkerne in the County of Somersett, Gent, being sicke of body but of perfect mind and memory (thanks be given unto almighty God for the same) Doe this present third day of June in the one and thirtieth yeare of the Reigne of our Soverigne Lord King Charles the Second over England &c Anno Dni 1679 make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme following (that is to say) First I bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the meritts of my blessed Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus to receive a free pardon for all my sinus And my body I comit to Christian buriall. Item I give unto the poore of the Towne of Crewkerne twenty shillings unto the poore of the tything of Woolminstone twenty shillings unto the poore of the lything of Hewish tenn shillings unto the poore of the tything of Clapton tenn shillings. Item I give unto my three grandchildren Robert, William and Elizabeth fifty pounds a peice to be paid unto them respectively when they shall accomplish the severall and respective ages of one and twenty yeares. And if either of them happen to dye before hee or her accomplish that age then I will that his or her legacie or portion by this my will soe given shall come and be unto the survivor and survivors of them. Item I give unto my sister Mary Rockett widdow five pounds. Item I give unto my son William Merefield all that my Rectory or Parsonage of Merriott in the said County of Somerset with ills rights, members and appurtenances. And all my estate --? of yeares and interest which I have therein of shall have alt the time of my death. Item I give unto my said sonn William all that my messuage and tenement with the appurtenances lying in and ? in the said County of Somersett And all my --? and interest that I have therein shall have at the time of my death. Item I give unto my said son William the sume of six hundred pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto him within one yeare next after my decease. Item I give unto my said son William my young gray mare, my little silver tankard six of my best silver spoones, the bedd and bedstead truckell bedd and bedsteed boulsters pillows bed linen and all the furniture thereunto belonging standing and being in the chamber wherein I now lye two pear of my second best sheets. All the rest of my lands, goods. chattells. bonds, bills. mortgages and money I give and bequeath unto my eldest some Robert Merefield whom I make my full and whole executor of this my last will and testament.
