Mary Merefield, Crewkerne, Somerset WILL Proved 2 Dec 1730 PROB I1/641

 

Memorandum that on or upon the fourteenth day of September in the present year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred twenty and seven Mary Merefield late of the parish of Crewkerne in the County of Somersett, spinster, deceased, being at the house of Mr William Hopkins in the parish of St John in Glaston?{bury} in the same County where she resided and lived for the space of two months next before and to the time of her death and having an intent and desire to make her last will nuncupative did in her last sickness and whilst she had and enjoyed her perfect sense and understanding in the presence and hearing of several credible persons who were in the room or chamber with her where she lay sick and by her particular directions called upon by their respective names in order to take notice of and attest the making of her said will asking at the same time whether there were witnesses enough then present make nuncupative and declare the same by word of mouth in manner and form following or to the like effect vizt. I give to Mr Hopkins [margin note: "meaning the above named Mr William Hopkins. who was then and there by her bedside and on whom she looked very steadfastly pointing her hand towards him three hundred pounds and I leave my brothers executors. In witness whereof we who were present with the said Mary Merefield the deceased at the time of making, publishing and declaring her said nuncupative will and by her desires to bear witness or take notice of the same or to that effect have hereunto sett our hands the 15th day of September Anno Dni 1727.
