                To all people to whom these presents shall come, I Mary John widow do send greeting.  Know ye that I the said Mary John widow of the parish of Penyclawdd in the County of Monmouth for and in consideration of the love good will and affection which I have and do bear towards my dear son William John now apprenticed to the trade of a shoe maker in the town of Monmouth in the foresaid County, have given and by these presents do freely give after my decease unto my said son William John his heirs, executors or administrators all and singular my house, barn, garden, orchards, lands and all appurtenances thereunto belonging, now being in my present possession, which said house are situate and being in the in the parish of Penyclawdd and County of Monmouth aforesaid, and the sd gardens orchards and lands are situate lying and being in the parishes of Penyclawdd and Cwmcarvan in the County of Monmouth aforesaid adjoining to the lands of Samuel Bosanquet Esqr and the road leading from Croft-y-Lloy towards Penyclawdd Church and also (after my decease) one feather bed and one pair of sheets in consideration and on condition that he my son William John will pay or cause to be paid unto my son John John the sum of five pounds immediately after my decease to have and to hold all the said house, garden, barn, orchard and lands to him the said William John his heirs executors or administrators, after my decease, as his proper house, lands, premises and all appurtenances without any other condition than what is above specify’d.  in witness whereof I  have hereunto put and set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred & three.  The mark & seal of Mary (X) John, widow
