            In the name of God Amen I Margaret Harris otherwise Margaret Anne being weak in body but of a sound and perfect mind and memory (thanks be to God for the same) do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) I give devise and bequeath the house, garden and croft now in my poss’ion by virtue of a devise to me granted by William Cadogan which he hrld by lease from John Hanbury Esqr unto John Harris otherwise John Anne my brother and to his executors and assigns for and during the time and term therein mentioned, and also all my goods houshold stuff money chattels and all my property whatsoever and wheresoever the same now is or hereafter shall be found unto the said John Harris otherwise John Anne whom I do hereby nominate and appoint whole and sole executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.  The mark of Margaret (X) Harris otherwise Margaret Anne

 

Signed sealed and delivered by the above named Margaret Harris otherwise Margaret Anne in our presence who at her request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses  Wm Tate;  Wm George;  Wm Rogers

 

1st May 1775.  John Harris otherwise John Anne the sole executor named in the within written Will was sworn to the truth thereof and to the faithful performance of the same and also that the dece’d effects do not amount in value to the sum of twenty pounds, before me Wm Jenkins, Surrogate

 

Testatrix dyed a pper? in the parish of Panteague

 

Proved at Caerleon on the first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five before the Reverend William Jenkins, Clerk, Master of Arts, the Chancellor’s Surrogate by John Harris otherwise John Anne the sole executor in the within written Will named who was first on the holy Evangelists personally sworn well and faithfully to execute the same to exhibit an inventory &c and to render a just account of his administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required

 

* NOTE: Nowhere in this Will does it state the testatrix’s parish, only that she died in Panteg.   DW
