In the name of God Amen. I John Lloyd of the parish of Tregare in the County of Monmouth. Gentleman, being praised be to God in perfect health and of sound mind, memory and understanding but being aged and considering the uncertainty of life do make this my last will and testament Whereas I have by good and sufficient conveyances in the law conveyed all my estate, messuage. lands, hereditaments and premises called Gwen y MeIlin and Hendre Vach with their appurtenances situate, lying and being in the parish of Tregare in the County of Monmouth to take place afler my decease in jointure upon the marriage of Stephen Higley of the parish of Grosmont in the said County of Monmouth, yeoman, with Mary his now wife subject to the payment of three hundred pounds in such shares, manners and proportions as I should by my last will and testament give and direct the same, that is to say, To and amongst the children of Walter Williams of Cranbourn Alley, London, button maker by Elizabeth his then wife the children of Phillip Lloyd late of Ryda Main but now of Keventilla in the parish of Landenny in the said County of Monmouth by Margaret his the wife Jane the daughter of Turbervil Powell late of Grosmont deceased by Mary his wife and the eldest son of John Prichard of Lanwain in the County of Hereford, yeoman, by Elizabeth his wife as by certain indentures of lease and release bearing date respectively on or about the sixteenth and seventeenth days of October which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two the release being of four parts and made or mentioned to be made between me and Sarah my late wife deceased and the said Stephen Higley of the first part William Powell therein named and Mary his daughter now the wife of the said Stephen Higley of the second part William Price and Phillip Price therein also described of the third part James Prichard therein also described and the said above named Phillip Lloyd of the fourth part relation being thereto had will more fully appear I do therefore by virtue of the power to me as aforesaid reserved and of every other power and powers me thereto enabling, give and direct and dispose of the said sum of three hundred pounds in manner following, that is to say. I give to William Williams eldest son of the said Walter Williams the sum of fifty pounds to him, his executors, administrators and assigns forever payable to him in one year next after my decease I also give to Phillip Lloyd son of the said Phillip Lloyd the sum of forty nine pounds ten shillings, and I also give to John Lloyd another son of the said Phillip Lloyd the sum of one hundred pounds. and I also give to Jane and Sarah two daughters of the said Phillip Lloyd the sum of fifty pounds apiece and to Jane the daughter of the said Turbervlle Powell the sum of five shillings, and I also give to the eldest son of the said John Prichard the sum of five shillings to be paid and payable to them as they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years and in case either or any of them shall happen to dye before he, she or they shall arrive at the age of twenty one years or be entitled to their said respective legacies that then and in such case the share or part legacy or Legacies of him, her or them so dying and given as aforesaid shall sink in the freehold of the said premises for the benefit of the person or persons who shall be entitled thereto under and by virtue of the limitations in the said above recited indenture of release mentioned and set forth I give and devise all and singular the said above mentioned premises and all my estate and reversionary interest therein. In case of the death of the said Stephen Higley and Mary his wife without issue of the said Mary who shall attain the age of twenty one years, to John Wiseham youngest son of William Wiseham of Tregare aforesaid, yeoman. By Mary his wife and to his heirs and assignees forever I give and devise all that my estate. messuage, lands. Tenements. hereditaiuents and premises called Kevenyghgoed and Tu yn yr gworlod situate in the said parish of Tregare unto the said William Wiseham and Mary his wife until their son William Wisehain the younger shall attain his age of twenty one years hereby restraing them from cutting down, loping or cropping any timber trees or trees likely to become timber ( except the coppice wood together with all the oak trees) (except twenty one) now standing and growing in the said coppice wood called Coed Ty lya in the said parish of Tregare. And it is my will and I do hereby give and devise the same premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Wiseham the younger immediately upon his arrival to the age of twenty one years and to his heirs and assigns forever subject nevertheless to the payment and chargeable with the said several sums of money herein after mentioned and in manner herein after set forth (that is to say) one clear yearly annuity or sum of five pounds by the year to the said William Wiseham the elder in case he should survive his wife and for and during the term of his natural life only and chargeable also with the payment of fifty pounds to Sarah. Fifty pounds to Mary, fifty pounds to Elizabeth, the three sisters of the said William Wiseham the younger in six months next after they shall severally attain their respective ages of twenty one years nevertheless it is my will that if it should be inconvenient for the said William Wiseham the younger to pay his said sisters their respective legacies of fifty pounds each in six months after they shall severally arrive at their ages of twenty one years that then and in such case the same shall remain at interest after the rate of four pounds to every hundred upon the credit of the said premises for the term of five years and further it is my will that in case of the death of either of them the said Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth before she or they shall respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years that then and in such case the legacy and Legacies to such of them so dying shall go to and amongst the survivors and survivor of them share and share alike and provided always that in case it shall happen that the said William Wiseham the younger shall depart this life before he arrives at the age of twenty one years and without issues lawfully begotten that then my said estate and premises to him as aforesaid given and devised shall go and remain to his brother John Wiseham to whom I in such case give and devise the same to hold to him, his heirs and assigns forever subject to the payment of the said annuity and legacies aforesaid I give and devise my estate, messuage, lands. hereditaments and premises called Llanllewyd situate in the parish of Llangattock Vibon Avel in the said County of Monmouth with the appurtenances unto Mary Wiseham wife of the said William Wiseham the elder for and during her natural life only subject nevertheless to the payment of one clear yearly annuity of twelve pounds by the year to Thomas Jones of Llantilio Cressenny in the said County of Monmouth, yeoman, and to Mary his wife for and during the term of their natural lives and the life of the survivor of them both together with four pounds by the year as herein after mentioned and also to the sum of four hundred pounds payable thereout in pursuance of certain marriage articles by me entered into upon the marriage of the said Thomas Jones with Mary his now wife to and amongst all such child or children that shall be begotten by the said Thomas Jones upon the body of the said Mary his now wife as they shall respectively attain their several and respective ages of twenty one years nevertheless it is my will that in case it shall happen that the said Thomas Jones and Mary his wife shall depart this life leaving no issue that shall become entitled to receive the said four hundred pounds share or part thereof under their father and mothers settlement that then the said sum of four hundred pounds shall sink into the said estate for the benefit of such person or persons as shall be entitled to the fee and inheritance thereof under this my will and form and after the decease of the said Mary Wiseham I give and devise the same premises chargeable as aforesaid and chargeable also as herein after mentioned unto John Lloyd son of the above named Phillip Lloyd his heirs and assigns forever subject nevertheless and chargeable with the payment of the further sum often pounds payable immediately upon my decease unto William Watkins of Llangarren? in the County of Hereford, farmer, and also to the sum of ten pounds to his daughter Sarah Watkins and it is my will that the interest of the said sum of ten pounds so given to the said Sarah Watkins shall be paid her annually out of my estate until she arrives at the age of twenty one years (towards the better clothing her) when I make the said sum of ten pounds payable to her, I give and devise all that my estate, messuage, lands. hereditameuts and premises called Tir Tucket situate in the parish of Skenfrith in the said County of Monmouth unto the said John Lloyd son of the said Phillip Lloyd to hold to him, his heirs and assigns forever subject to and chargeable nevertheless with the payment one clear yearly annuity or rent charge of two pounds by the year payable quarterly unto Elizabeth the wife of John Prichard of Llanwain aforesaid for and during the term of her natural life only and from and after her decease I charge thc aforesaid estate called Tir Tucket with the payment of ten pounds apiece to the two children of the said Elizabeth or such of them as shall be living at her decease by virtue of a surrender by me made according to the custom of the Manor of Trelleck in the said County of Monmouth to the use of my last will and testament I give and devise all that my estate, messuage, lands, hereitaments and premises situate in the parish of Penalt in the County of Monmouth in as large and ample manner as Josiah Davis now occupies the same as tenant to me unto my niece Sarah Davis now the wife of the said Josiah Davis and to her and her heirs forever to be divided equally between them share and share alike subject nevertheless and chargeable with the payment of four pounds by the year clear of all deductions in and of and to assist the Llanllewyd Estate with the payment of the said sixteen pounds yearly to the said Thomas Jones and Mary his wife for and during the term of their natural lives and life of the survivor of them in full satislhction of the said sum of sixteen pounds by the year chargeable upon the said Llanllewyd Estate I give and devise all that my estate. messuage, lands. hereditaments and premises called Graige y bervetb situate, lying and being in the parish of Llangattock Vibon Avil now in the occupation of William Wathen?. Also all that my estate, messuage, lands. hereditaments and premises called Pen yr Elthyn situate in the said parish of Llangattock Vibon Avil in the said County of Monmouth now in the tenure and occupation of John Prichard to Mary Wiseham wife of the said William Wiseham until! her son John Wiseham shall attain his age of twenty one years and I do hereby give and devise the same premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Wiseham immediately upon his arrival to the age of twenty one years and to his heirs and assigns forever subject nevertheless and chargeable with the payment of sixty pounds to and amongst all the children of Elizabeth Howell wife of Thomas Howell of Penrose in the said County of Monmouth, butcher, share and share alike if more than one, if one child the whole to that one child payable when he, she or they shall respectively arrive at the age of twenty one years I also give and bequeath to and amongst his said children in manner aforesaid the sum of fifteen pounds fifteen shillings by me lent and now due to me from the said Thomas Howell. I give and bequeath to Phillip Lloyd son of Phillip Lloyd of Keventilla aforesaid the sum of fifty pounds to be paid by his said father when he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years I also give and bequeath to John Wiseham son of William Wiseham the sum of fifty pounds to be paid by the said Phillip Lloyd when he shall arrive at the age of twenty one years being part of the sum of one hundred and seventy pounds due to me from the said Phillip Lloyd the elder and by me lent him to make up the purchase money paid for Keventilla Estate I also give and bequeath unto Margaret the daughter of the said Phillip Lloyd the sum of seventy pounds to be paid her by her said father when she shall arrive at her age of twenty one years which makes up the whole sum of one hundred and seventy pounds due to me from the said PhilIip Lloyd as aforesaid I give and bequeath all that my leasehold cottage with its appurtenances situate in the parish of Saint Maughans in the County of Monmouth and now in the possession of William Watkins and all my estate title and interest therein for the remainder of one thousand years to him the said William Watkins and Mary his daughter their executors, administrators and assigns forever whereas in order to enable me to lend and advance unto the said Stephen Higley the sum of three hundred pounds upon his reversionary interest after my decease in the above mentioned Wrn y Mellin Estate I have mortgaged my said above mentioned estate called Llanllewyd for the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds it is my will and I do hereby direct that my executors herein after named and my trustees mentioned in the said mortgage deed shall receive the said sum of three hundred pounds and shall and will pay and apply the same in manner following, that is to say. The sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to pay of and discharge the said sum of two hundred and fifty pounds and interest by me borrowed by way of mortgage on the credit of the said Llanllewyd Estate and the remaining fifty pounds out of the said three hundred I give and bequeath unto Ann youngest daughter of the said William Wiseham payable by my said executrix and trustees together with the accumulated interest thereof to her when she shall arrive at the age of twenty one years but it is my will that in case she dies before she arrives at her age of twenty one years that then and in such case the same shall be paid and payable to John Wiseham son of the said William Wiseham his executors, administrators and assigns forever to whom I give the same accordingly I also give and bequeath to John Wiseham son of the said William Wiseham, Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth daughters of the said William Wiseham by the said Mary his now wife the sum of fifty pounds apiece payable by my said executors herein after named when they shall respectively attain their age of twenty one years out of the rents and profits of my said real and personal estate and it is my will that that my executors herein after named shall pay all my just debts and my will is and I do hereby direct that my body be decently buried in the parish church of Llanvihangel Yestern Llewern in the said County of Monmouth and I do hereby give to the Reverend Theophilus Thomas if he buries me the sum of five pounds payable by my executors herein after named I also direct my said executors to distribute bread to the poor at my funeral to the amount in value of two pounds and it is my will that my said executors shall pay to Martha Jones of Llantillio Pertholey spinster for her life the sum of one pounds by the year clear of all out goings and I do hereby direct my executors to erect a marble monument over or near my grave within six months after my decease all the rest and residue of personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give, devise and bequeath unto the said Mary the wife of the said William Wiseham her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever and of this my will I nominate and appoint William Price of Llangattock Vibon Avel in the said County of Monmouth, gentleman, and the said Phillip Lloyd of Kenevtilla aforesaid trustees to see this my will duly executed and hereby revoking all former wills by me made I pronounce. Publish and declare this to be my last will and testament of this my will I nominate and appoint the said Mary the wife of the said William Wiseham sole executors and executor. Proved at Llandaff on the twenty fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand and seven hundred and eighty four before the Reverend Benjamin Hall, Clerk, BD, the Chancellors surrogate by Mary Wiseham (wife of William Wiseham) the niece of the said decd and sole executors in the within will named who was first on the holy Evangelists personally sworn well and faithfully to execute the same to exhibit an inventory &c and to render a just account of her administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required
