Thos Lewis, Llanvaches. Mon. WILL Proved 12 Nov 1834

 

In the name of God Amen. This is the last wilt and testament of me Thomas Lewis of the Parish of Lanvaches in the County of Monmouth farmer, as follows

I give and devise unto the use of Robert Woollett of the Town of Usk in the County of Monmouth, surgeon, and Thomas Leonard of the parish of Magor in the said County. Minister of the Gospel, to them their heirs and assigns, all and every my freehold estates of whatever kind or nature the same may be that I may die possessed of. in Trust until my son Thomas Lewis attains the age of twenty one years as hereafter named, namely I give and devise unto my son Thomas Lewis all my freehold estates in the Parishes of Lanvaches and Caldicot in the County of Monmouth when he attains the age of twenty one years to him his heirs and assigns for ever, he paying out of the rents and profits of the same unto my beloved wife Mary Lewis the sum of ten pounds yearly and every year for and during the term of her natural life, also I give and bequeath unto my sons and daughters, namely. Catherine Jones, Mary Lewis, Ann Lewis, Rachel Lewis, John Lewis, Caroline Lewis, Abigail Lewis, Dorcas Lewis. Elizabeth Lewis and William Lewis the sum of fifty pounds each when they severally attain the age of twenty one years, all which said sums of fifty pounds each is to be paid out of my said freehold estates, at the discretion of the Trustees aforenamed, and should any of my sons and daughters aforenamed die before they respectively attain the age of twenty one years or leaving no issue, then the said several sums of fifty pounds, so bequeathed. of each one dying to be divided between the survivors of them share and share alike all which aforesaid legacies to be paid my sons and daughters each respectively free of any duty, charge or incumbrance whatever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Lewis all my household furniture, farming stock, implements of husbandry, and all and every other my personal estate and effects of whatsoever nature or quality the same may be that I may die possessed of. to her. her heirs and assigns for ever, and lastly I do nominate and appoint my beloved wife Mary Lewis to be whole and sole exectrix to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former will or wills by me any lime heretofore made and do ordain this to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand and seal this thirtieth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four. Thomas Lewis.

12th day of November 1834 Mary Lewis widow, the relict of the deceased and sole executrix named in the will was duly sworn as such. And that the goods, chattels and credits of the deceased are under the value of three hundred pounds before me. Thos Lewis, surrogate.

Diocese of Llandaff. In the consistory Court. In the goods of Mr Thomas Lewis deceased. Appeared personally Mary Lewis of the Parish of Lanvaches in the County of Monmouth widow, the sole exectrix named in the last will and testament of the said Thomas Lewis late of the Parish of Lanvaches aforesaid. Farmer, deceased, who died on the fifth day of July last and made Oath that the estate and effects of the deceased, for and in respect of which a probate of the said Will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other person or persons. and not beneficially and without deducting any thing on account of the debts due and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of three hundred pounds, to the best of this deponent’s knowledge, information, and belief. And she lastly made oath, that the said deceased did hot die possessed of any leasehold estate or estates, either absolute or determinable on a life or lives, to the best of this deponent’s knowledge.
