I Andrew Lewis now or late Amberley in the County of Monmouth, Gentleman, do make my last will and testament in manner hereinafter exprest that is to say I will that all my debts shall be paid and satisfied and I charge not only my personals but also such revertionary interest as I may have in or at the several places called Coombe and Langonville with the payment thereof. Item I give the care, guardianship and tuitian of my son Henry Lewis unto my worthy friend Jeremy Junys? Of the City of Bristol, merchant, and unto my brother in law William Lewis of the same City, boat builder, and in case the said Mr Junys? Shall refuse or decline to act therein I give such guardianship unto him the said William Lewis only. Item whereas I am intitled to the revertion in fee of and in several messuages and lands at the said several places called Coombe and Langonville in the County of Monmouth that is to say upon the death of my said son without issue I do therefore give and devise all such my revertion and interest in and to the said several messuages and lands at Coombe and Langonville aforesaid unto them the said Jeremy Junys? And William Lewis and the survivor of them, his heirs and assigns upon trust to sell and dispose of the same messuages and lands to the best purchasor or purchasors that they or the survivor of them, his heirs or assigns can get for the same and the moneys arising from such sale as well as the moneys arising from such personal estate as I may dye possessed of to pay and apply in payment and discharge of such debts as I may owe at my decease and after the payment of such debts in case there shall be any overplus money that shall or may arise from the sale of my said messuages and lands at Coombe and Langonville and from my said personal estate then I will that such overplus moneys shall remain in the hands of them the said Jeremy Junys? And William Lewis or the survivor of them, his executors or administrators to and upon such trusts and for such purposes as I by codicil or any other writing shall appoint save only that I will that out of such overplus there shall be paid and I do hereby give unto the thre daughters of the said William Lewis by my sister Susannah the wife of the said William Lewis the sum of fifty pounds a piece. Item Whereas I am also seized of the revertion in fee in case of the death of my said son without issue of and in a messuage farm and lands at Amberley in the County of Monmouth of the yearly value of sixty pounds or thereabouts now rented by BLANK Jones, yeoman, I do therefore give and devise all such my said revertion in fee and all my estate and interest in the said messuage and lands Amerley aforesaid unto my nephew William Lewis (son of the said William Lewis and Susannah his wife) and to his heirs and assigns for ever to hold to him my said nephew William Lewis, his heirs and assigns for evermore chargeable nevertheless with the sum of two hundred pounds in case I shall think fit so to charge the same by codicil to this my will but not otherwise. Item Whereas I am intitled to certain lands and hereitaments in the Colony of Virginia in America I do therefore give the same unto them the said Jeremy Junys? And Wm Lewis and the survivor of them, his heirs and assigns upon trust to sell the same and the moneys arising from such sale to apply in case of my several estates and lands in the County of Monmouth. Item the residue of my estate I give to my said sister Susannah Lewis and her children by the said William Lewis and my first cousins as well on the part of my late father deceased as on the part of my mother deceased it be my will and intention that the children of my late sister Mary the late wife of Mr John Williams shall be excluded from all benefit of my estate. Lastly I nominate and appoint them the said Jeremy Junys? And my said brother in law William Lewis executors of this my will and do hereby revoke all former or other will or wills by me made. I give to my cousin Elizabeth Hoskins, widow of my late cousin Mr Edwd Hoskins deceased the sum of one hundred pounds and to my cousin Anne Probyn spinster, daughter of Mr John Probyn of the parish of Trullick in the County of Monmouth, tanner, the like sum of one hundred pounds of lawfull British money chargeable upon my estate at Amberley in my will mentioned as witness my hand this fifteenth day of October 1745. This will was proved at London (with two codicils annexed) before the Right Worshipfull John Bettesworth, Doctor of Laws, Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted the third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty six by the oath of William Lewis the brother of the deceased and one of the executors named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased being first sworn by commission duly to administer (power reserved of making the like grant to Jeremy Junys?
