JOSEPH LEONARD LL 1801/8

The last Will and Testament of Joseph Leonard of the parish Bassaleg in the County of Monmouth Farmer.

First I give and bequeath unto my Eldest son Joseph Leonard of the parish of Lantarnam in the said County farmer, the sum of One Pound and one Shilling to be paid by my Executrix herein after named together with a Welsh Bible. Item I give and bequeth unto my Son John Leonard of the parish of Bassaleg in the said County the said Sum of One Pound & one Shilling to be paid him as before directed. Item, I give and bequeath unto my Grandson John Leonard now cohabiting with me in my Dwelling House the like sum of One pound and one Shilling to be paid him as before directed And Lastly as to the Rest, Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate Goods Cattles and Chattles of what nature kind or quality soever they be I give Devise and bequeath the same unto my Dearly Beloved wife Gwenllian, provided she remains a widow after my Decease, and continues so to the Time of her Death but In case she alters her condition and marries another Husband, then my further Will and pleasure is that she is to have nothing – After the Death of my wife Gwenllian I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Leonard my son Edward Leonard (and my Daughter Ann Leonard)x all my personal Estate Goods Cattles and Chattels of what nature kind or quality soever they be to be equally divided among them share and share alike - And I do hereby also Nominate Constitute and appoint my said wife Gwenllian to be sole and entire Executrix & Risiduary Legatee of this my last Will and Testament, Revoking and making void all other Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made, Ratifying and Confirming This and no other to be my Last Will and Testament – In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Thirteenth day of February 1793
