William Jones, Llanarth. Mon WILL Proved 23 Nov 1667

 

In the name of God Amen I William Jones of Lanarth in the County of Monmouth Esquire doe make and ordain this my last will and testament in writing in manner following. That is to say. First I commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker and redeemer and my body to be buried in Christian burial. Item I give, devise and bequeath all that messuage tenement & lands late in the tenure of Jeonell Watkins wid, and now in the occupation of my brother in law George Watkins, gent, situate in Lanarth aforesaid in the said County with the appurtenances unto my son Edward Jones his heirs and assignees forever provided always and upon condition that if my sonne Phillip Jones shall truly pay unto my said son Edward the summe of five hundred pounds current money within six months next after such time as he the said Edward shall attain unto the age of one and twenty years that then the premises aforesaid shall be and remain unto my said sonne Phillip his heirs and assignees forever Any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any wise not withstanding And my will is that in the interim the rents and profits arising and due out of the said premisses be paid unto my dear wife Mary Jones for and towards the education of my said sonne Edward. Item I give and bequeath all such freehold lands, tenements and hereditaments whatsoever whereof I stand now lawfully seized in fee simple in possession reversion or remainder situate and lying in the severall parishes, hamlets and precincts of Dingestowe, Tregare, Clitha, Penrose, Lanarth, the Towne of Monmoth, Langattock Vibon Avell, Newchurch and Bringwyn in the said County of Monmouth (other then the tenement above mentioned to bee in the tenure of the said George Watkins and either and every of them wth the appurtenances unto my said deare wife Mary Jones and my deare cousin Thomas Morgan of Penrose Esquire and my well beloved friend? Edmond Jones of He--ereshirry? in the said County Esquire theire executors, administrators and assignes and to the survivor of them and his or her executors and assignes for and dureing the full -? and terme of nynety and nyne yeares to commence from the date hereof upon se--? trust and confidence nevertheless and to the intent and purpose that they the said Mary Jones, Thomas Morgan and Edmund Jones or some or one of them their executors & assignes and the survivor of them and his or her executors and assignees shall and will at his, her and their wills and pleasures grant, bargain, sell and devise all and singular the lastly devised premises or soe much thereof as they shall thinke meete? for the best benefit and advantage that may be had for the same? And that the money to be raised by all and every such demise or grante shalbe forthwith paid and disposed of toward the payment of such debts as I shall owe at the tynie of my decease as far as the said debts shall amount unto and that the rest and residue of the said money to be raised as aforesaid be paid unto my five daughters that is to say Elizabeth Lewis, Alethea, Lucie, Jane and Margarett in such manner and proportion as my said dear wife Mary Jones by any note under her hand shall directe and appoynt & for want of such note or appoyntment that then the same be paid unto my said five daughters equally amongst them. And as for my personall estate I give and bequeath the same unto my said deare wife toward the payment of such debts as I doe now owe. The surplusage thereof after my said debts paid I give unto my said five daughters towards the bettering of their portions. And of this my will and testament I doe constitute, nominate and appointe my said deare wife Mary Jones, my said cousin Thomas Morgan and the said Edmond Jones joint executors. In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale dated this thirtieth day of August in the nyneteenth yeare of the raigne of our sovereign Lord Charles the second over England &c Anno domini 1667. - signed by the testator- signed. sealed, delivered and published in the presence of Thos Lewis; Ed Davies; John Harries
