            This is the last Will and Testament of me John Williams of the parish of Penyclawdd in the County of Monmouth farmer.  I give and bequeath unto my wife all the household furniture she brought to me at our marriage.

And the remainder of my household furniture dairy and brewing utensils I give and bequeath to my two daughters Mary Jones and Catherine Thomas in equal proportions share and share alike.

I give bequeath and devise unto my son William Williams and to Mary his wife and to the survivor of them and after the death of such survivor then to the use of the will of the said William Williams all that house, barn, stable and other out buildings together with all that land or farm and two coppice woods called and known by the name of Lower Penyclawdd situate in the several parishes of Penyclawdd, Lanishen and Langovan all in the County of Monmouth together with all my other real and personal estate not herein before bequeathed or devised by this my last Will and Testament.

Nevertheless if the said Mary Williams shall or does survive her husband and again contract marriage or be proved guilty of adultery or fornication shall upon the evidence of three or more respectable witnesses for the intent and purposes of this Will be considered as naturally dead and upon such proof being established then she shall forfeit all interest right and title to or in the said house, barns out buildings, lands, farm, coppice woods and other real estate herein bequeathed and devised by this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby devise the same to the use of the Will of my said son William Williams nevertheless I charge and make chargeable all the aforesaid real estate with the payment of the following annuities and legacies, that is to say

            The said William Williams and Mary his wife or the survivor of them or the heirs, executors, administrators and assigns of such survivor shall pay unto my wife the sum of twenty pounds a year.

And to my son John Williams the sum of ten pounds a year.  And the respective sums shall be paid by half yearly installments during the term of their natural lives.

            And they the said William Williams and Mary his wife or the survivor of them or the executors administrators and assigns of such survivor shall pay unto my daughter Mary Jones her heirs and assigns the sum of three hundred pounds.

And to my daughter Catherine Thomas her heirs and assigns the sum of three hundred pounds.

And to my grandson John Pask the sum of three hundred pounds.  And I do declare it is my will that my said son William Williams and Mary his wife or their respective executors administrators and assigns shall pay the above named legacies within one year after my decease.  And that they shall further pay all my just and lawfull debts funeral and testamentary expences.  And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said son William Williams executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills at ant time made by me do declare this to be my last Will and Testament.  As witness hereunto I have set my hand this fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two.  J Williams

 

Signed published pronounced and declared by the within named testator John Williams as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other and at his request have hereunto subscribed our names the erasements and interlinements opposite to the initials of our respective names being first made  John Seymour;  Job Jones;  James Jenkins

 

5th day of December 1854.  William Williams the lawful son of the deceased and sole executor named in this Will was duly sworn as such, that the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased are under the value of two hundred pounds and that the testator died on the 26th day of November 1854.  Before me Richd Prichard, Surrogate

 

Diocese of   Llandaff         In the Consistory Court.      In the Goods of   John Williams            deceased,

 

Appeared Personally William Williams of Lower Penyclawdd in the parish of  Penyclawdd in the County of   Monmouth farmer the sole Executor named in the last Will and Testament of the said  John Williams late of the parish of Penyclawdd  aforesaid  farmer deceased, who died on the twenty sixth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four and made Oath that the Estate and Effects of the said deceased, for and in respect of which a Probate of the said Will is to be granted, exclusive of what the said deceased may have been possessed of or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially, and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the said deceased, are under the value of   two hundred   Pounds, to the best of this Deponent’s knowledge, information, and belief.  And    he    lastly made Oath that the said deceased did not die possessed of any Leasehold Estate or Estates for years, either absolute or determinable, on a life or lives to the best of this Deponent’s knowledge, information and belief.  William Williams
