            This is the last Will and Testament of John Evans of the Post Office in Ragland in the County of Monmouth.  I give and bequeath to my wife Ann Evans for her absolute benefit all my household goods contained in my present dwelling house at Ragland.  With respect to all my real and personal property at Twyn-y-Sheriff in the said parish my will is that it shall be sold at the expiration of one year after my decease except two cottages called the Upper and Lower Cottage.  The Upper Cottage which I did give bequeath and devise to my daughter Emma and the Lower Cottage to my son Robert.  That after my real and personal property shall have been sold and after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth the sum of one hundred pounds on account of a cottage once possessed by her.  The remainder to be equally divided amongst all my children.  And I hereby nominate and appoint my son Edwin to be executor of this my last Will should any property be bequeathed to me after the date hereof my wish is that it may be equally divided between Ann Evans my wife and all my children.  Dated this eighth day of April one thousand eight hundred and fifty.  John Evans, testator.

Proved at London 7th November 1850 before the Worshipful Thomas Spinks Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Edwin Evans the son, the sole executor to whom administration was granted having been first sworn duly to administer
