Gwyllim Jenkin of Goytre

In the name of God Amen I Gwyllim Jenkin of ye pish of Goytre in ye County of Monmouth & Diocess of Landaff labourer being in tolerable health of body & of sound & perfect mind & memory praise be therefore given to Almighty God doe make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner & form following (that is to say) First & principally I commend my soul into ye hands of Almighty God my maker hopeing through ye meritts death & passion of my Saviour Jesus Xt to have full & free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins & to inheritt everlasting life & my body I committ to ye earth to be decently interred att ye discretion of my executor herein after named. And as touching ye disposition of all my temporall estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give & dispose thereof as follows.

First & principally my will is yt all my debts & funerall charges be paid wth all convenience after my decease.

I give & bequeath to Anne my well beloved wife all my freehold estate together wth all ye houses orchards out houses & conveniencys thereunto belonging in as large & ample a manner as I at pr’sent enjoy ye same for & dureing her naturall life. And after her decease I give devise & bequeath ye sd freehold estate wth its appurtenances to my beloved son William (wch estate lieth in ye parish of Goytre now in my possession) for & in consideration yt my sd son William shall pay to his brother Thomas my second son ye sume of twelve pounds of good & lawfull money of Great Brittain at three severall payments after ye decease of my beloved wife wn he enjoys ye same that is to say the sume of four pounds at ye expiration of one year after ye sd possession & so to continue ye payment of four pounds more ye ensueing year & likewise ye third year ye aforesd payment of four pounds to my sd son Thomas or his assignes. And further my will is yt if my sd son William refuses to pay to his brother Thomas ye sd sume of twelve pounds as before recited at ye times & days of payment, yt yn it may be lawfull for my son Thomas to enjoy & keep ye sd freehold estate for & dureing ye term of three years before expressed, towards payment & consideration of ye sd twelve pounds.

Item I give & bequeath all my personall estate household stuff stock & moveables of wt kind soever together with all my corn grain & hay growing or in ye barns wth ye implements of husbandry to Anne my beloved wife for & dureing her naturall life & after her decease I give & bequeath to my beloved son William ye great table wth ye forms belonging to it & ye bench by ye garden window & likewise ye shelves yt hold ye pewter wth two lest? barrells & also ye table in ye chamber where I lye yt usually holds ye milk wth one bedsteed yt is in ye chamber, I give also to my sd son William one shilling to be pd him in one months time after ye decease of my sd wife by my executor hereafter named.

Item I give & bequeath to my grand daughter Anne ye daughter of my sd son William one chest yt is in ye chamber.

Item I give & bequeath to my sd son Thomas all ye remainder of my personal estate household stuff & stock wth all ye moveables of wt kind soever yt is not before bequeathed after ye decease of my sd wife.

And lastly I doe nominate & ordain my sd son Thomas to be sole executor of this my last will & testament and I doe hereby revoke & make void all former wills by me heretofore made.

In witness hereof I ye sd Gwyllim Jenkin have to this my last will & testament sett my hand & seal this one & twentyeth day of September in ye year of our Ld God 1716. The marke of Gwyllim Jenkin
