            In the name of God Amen I James Jones of the parish of Lanmartin and County of Monmouth farmer being of sound mind and memory do this twenty sixth day of July one thousand eight hundred and sixty four make and publish this my last Will and Testament in maner and form following.  First I commend my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be intered at the discretion of my dear wife or my surviving children.  Secondly I give to my dear wife Mary Jones all the houses gardens and premises I have in the parish of Shirenewton for her life.  Also I give to my dear wife Mary Jones after my death the £40.6.2 due after my death from the Briton life Association.  Next I give to my son John Jones after the death of my dear wife Mary Jones the Public House known by the name of the Five Bells with gardens stables and bildings there unto belonging and blacksmith shop now in the occupation of Mr William Werett? situate in the village of Shirenewton.  Also I give to my son John Jones the cottage garden and premises now in the occupation of Mr Allan? Burrows situate in the village of Shirenewton.  Also I give to my son John Jones all my farming stock and implements at my death.  Next I give to my daughter Eliza after the death of my dear wife Mary Jones for her life that cottage garden and premises now in the occupation of Mr James Spencer situate on Mony bach in the parish of Shirenewton. Also that cottage garden and premises now in the occupation of Mr Allen Ridin? and Mr George Bigham situate on Mony bach in the parish of Shirenewton. Also that cottage garden orchard and premises know as the lower House situate under the New Road near Mony bach in the parish of Shirenewton in the occupation of Mr Richard Williams this property to come to her children after the death of my daughter Eliza and not to be sold.  And I do hereby ratify confirm this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.  In witness whareof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.  James Jones.

In Her Majesty’s Court of Probate.  The District Registry of Llandaff.

On the 5th day of August 1865 administration (with the Will annexed) of the personal estate and effects of James Jones late of the parish of Lanmartin in the County of Monmouth farmer deceased, who died on the eighteenth day of April 1865 at Shirenewton in the said County was granted to Mary Jones the lawful widow and relict of the said deceased she having been first sworn duly to administer.  No executor or residuary legatee being named in the said Will.

On the fifth day of August 1865 Letters of Administration with the Will annexed of all and singular the personal estate and effects of James Jones late of the parish of Lanmartin in the County of Monmouth farmer deceased, who died on the eighteenth day of April 1865 at Shirenewton in the said County were granted at the District Registry attached to Her Majesty’s Court of Probate at Llandaff to Mary Jones of the Court Farm in the said parish of Lanmartin the lawful widow and relict of the said deceased, she having been first sworn duly to administer.  No executor or residual legatee being named in the said Will.

 

Sureties:-  John Williams of Roath in the County of Glamorgan, butcher, and Benjamin Williams of Elm Street, Roath aforesaid, blacksmith.
